I've been craving some good Sarah/Derek fic that actually deals with her past with Kyle--from Kyle being John's dad to what he meant to Sarah, and how her previous relationship with Kyle affects Derek and Sarah in the present. B/c of course he's going to wonder how he compares to Kyle in her eyes. There's baggage there to deal with.
So yes, great job. As someone else mentioned, I thought it really fit the tone of the show. And nice work on the back and forth angst and tension. It even made me tear up.
I hope you write more! I don't want it to be just a one time thing. They do need to hash out some of their issues, that's for sure. I think he needs to know that she only knew Kyle for a couple days. There's really a lot he could tell her about his brother. Not to mention, I think she'd love to see him playing with Kyle in the park too.

Oh, thank-you! I am a fan of the movies and of Sarah/Kyle. I couldn't possibly have written Sarah/Derek without Kyle baggage, LOL.

I have definite intentions of writing more, and hashing out many of their issues ~ over time, anyway.
This was so very lovely, thank you for sharing it. You really have their voices and the atmosphere down perfectly. Nice realistic angsty finish too, no happy endings here it seems.
No, these two definitely didn't have 'happy ending' in them. I don't know if they ever will, not just because of their baggage, but their situation, the fact that it seems neither survives into the future, etc. Dark and angsty are Sarah/Derek.
Oh, my. I don't think I could love this any more. It's just perfect. There's pain and heat and angst galore and so much brutal honesty in the two of them that I want to go back and re-read the story all over again, now.

I think that's the very best compliment a writer can receive ~ thank-you very much! I hope you enjoy it as much the second time around. :)
