All right, finally got Semagic to post to all three journals at once. LJ is still going to be my "main" journal, but I've friended everyone I could find on GJ and IJ as well. Feel free the friend me on both sites, same username as here

Why would people leave LJ?

Hmm, there's been a couple of HUGE kerfluffles that have to do with LJ deleting journals. The first time, referred to now as Strikethrough '07, they closed several journals and communities that were reported to advocate pedophilia. One of the communities was a Spanish literary comm dedicated to reading and discussing the book Lolita. People freaked out en masse, LJ apologized for handling the situation badly, and restored the journals which weren't actually promoting illegal activities.

But then more recently, the LJ team once again deleted journals w/no warning or opportunity for the journalists to defend themselves, and this time, they didn't just strikethrough the journals, they deleted them permanently. Just GONE. Two of them were prominent fandom artists who created Harry Potter art depicting the characters in sexual scenarios. So people are once again pretty irate, and also wondering what/who LJ will target next. Especially since much of fandom in general involves writing and or art maniping pretty explicit material.

Oh, but creating the back-up journal is actually much easier than it sounds! Basically, you d/l a client, create a second journal, and click a button and the client does it all for you. Just in case you had any twitchy inclinations that way. ;)

Oooooohhhhh - prison cells and firing squads and possibly kinky dialogue! This could so totally work.
