So… there is still no apology up at Amazon.
Whatever it was: a hacker, right wing crazies, an idiotic employee, a glitch, a ham-fisted error, whatever. I go to their website and there is still a picture of a Kindle in the middle of the page instead of something like this:
We at Amazon value our GLBT customers, authors, readers, employees and

Even if it was a "glitch," if they're that sloppy with the rankings, what are they doing with my credit information?

Yeah, I got a membership at B&N for Christmas, and I've only used it at the local brick and mortar store, but I have to read the membership FAQ to find out how to translate it to buying online. I'm also going to create an account at Powell's and Borders. I think I actually used to have an account at Powell's, but I have no idea what my user name and password might have been...

Oh yeah, that concerns me, too. If they are careless in one area, are they just as careless in others? Scary thought.

But I've also been disillusioned with this whole mess. Accident or no, whatever the cause, it hurts to do a search for "homosexuality" and have the first result being a book about "curing gays". There needs to be some sort of apology.
My business is moving elsewhere at this time. It won't be as convenient for me, but I'm sticking to my principles on this one.

Oh definitely -- the vast majority of my fannish media collection (DVDs of series sets and movies, soundtracks, books about pop culture...) comes from Amazon.
Lately, I've been ordering one food item from their shiny new grocery section cause I can't find it anywhere near me.
That sucks. On the other hand, you can probably find it somewhere else online, it just might take a little detective work.

Oh definitely, that was just appalling. And it's Wednesday night and still no apology. I don't think we're getting one, which is pretty arrogant of them.

No, it really doesn't make any sense. Neither does their lack of PR smarts. I would think that a company that made its name on the internet would know how to, y'know, use the internet. I'm so angry at them, but I'm also really disappointed in them, and really sad about it. I liked buying from them. I could always find what I was looking for (which is so ironic, since so much of it has been gay-themed!).
