Wow, it's been a while since I posted!  I was kind of avoiding checking my grade for that second summer class, but I looked today and I made a B!  I was kind of hoping I'd squeaked by with a C, so that final paper must have gotten a really good grade.  I swear, it was literally the most depressing class I've ever taken--History of the Holocaust.  ( Read more... )

Well, I have been busy (only sort of) with my class for the first summer term: Caribbean History.  Man, talk about tainting the enjoyment of things; we've focused on the slave trade and sugar, then I just wrote a paper Monday (in two hours before it was due!) on race and labour in Central America, which was on banana plantations in Costa Rica.

Well, apparently procrastination can pay off; that film paper and annotated bibliography I did literally at the last minute?  I got an A+ on both.  That, or this school really has no standards.  All the final grades aren't in yet, but in the two that are posted on the web, I got As.  This brings me up to just shy of a 3.0 overall GPA!  This is ( Read more... )

After our first film class Friday, I decided without even looking at one of our textbooks to analyse Frank Capra's Meet John Doe, which I watched with kayliemalinza.  Then, I started reading chapter one today, and it's mentioned briefly.  Most people will probably overlook it, but I'm a little irritated that my professor might think I got the idea from the book ( Read more... )

It is done, and I have done it!  I totally wrote the final paper for my women's history class in two days.  Finished it up this afternoon; it's seven pages.  Now I have to write a reflection for the same class, study for a quiz tomorrow, and start work on the final paper for another class.  That one will probably take more than two days, however.  ( Read more... )

Yes!  I kicked butt on my Women's History midterm!  100!  I don't think I've ever made a hundred on a midterm in college (not that that's a surprise at Davidson...).  Now I have Asian History's midterm tomorrow and questions today and a reflection Wednesday and a paper before Thanksgiving.  Whew.

Hah!  I overcame the inertia to meet with an advisor today (they don't actually assign individual advisors, you just have to go to the open office hours), and asked about what I actually needed to graduate.  She was really helpful, seeing as how this school's system is really confusing.  It's worse than WebTree for a freshman.  Anyway, I learned ( Read more... )

I really wish I got the emails about the professor cancelling my 9:30 class before I leave the house at a quarter to eight.  Since, you know, my other class isn't until 3:30.  Oh, well.  Guess I have plenty of time to do work and read fic today.

Well, I've done my good deeds for the week.  Yesterday, I was sitting in the library--they've redone the bottom floor, with all these nice couches and desks and chairs--and these two ladies come and ask me if I'd participate in a study the library's doing on the useability of their new website.  The payment was a $5 gift card to Starbucks.  That ( Read more... )
