So, I was flipping channels during the sometimes interminable commercials during the Olympics (go Team USA!), and PBS was running some programme on these people from WWII.  So at one point this guy is recollecting the Battle of Anzio, and he remembers this guy saying, 'God help us and come yourself, don't send Jesus.  This is no place for children

lacking both cable and an internet connection that will let me watch streaming without seizing up, I've watched none of the Olympics so far. Which annoys me, as I really want to and, for the first time, actually have the time to do so.

But I've seen the pictures. And I agree: Yum.

Oh, the opening ceremony was absolutely fabulous. I especially appreciated the walk through Britain's history they did, starting with the Druids, essentially. Of course, the Queen's scene with James Bond was just fantastic.

The games have been really good so far. I tried to look at the streaming videos, but you have to pay extra to get them, so no go there. We already pay for cable and internet; I'm not paying more for video on the computer. I am getting really tired though, because I've been watching pretty much all the prime time coverage, so now that gymnastics are over I'll be going to bed earlier.

yeah. I really wanted to watch the gymnastics.... but I've heard wonderful things about all of the games so far, so that's something at least.
