Weird personal trope

I've noticed this before: My characters seem to spend a lot of time in bathrooms, much of it traumatized.*

Wonder what other odd tropes are hanging out in my stories. Hmm...

* J&R should thank their lucky stars that they're not in an X-Files story. Trust me, boys. This is nothing.

I had characters that did the same thing, and weirdly it was in one specific fandom! I'm not sure why. Some boys are obviously bathroom boys XD

Yours do it too?? That is so weird. I have to get to the bottom of this mysterious phenomenon... (Where's Mulder when you need him? Probably hanging out in a bathroom somewhere, tramatized...)

LOL! Bathroom boys - sounds like a band. ;-) Or a club! They should all get together and complain about their stupid authors. *g*

I seem to recall characters of yours spending an enormous amount of time in corridors...

Mind you, that was in a pre-bathroom universe. Maybe you were working up to it.

But on a more serious note, it kind of makes sense if your charas are in a space together a lot and the traumatizing issue is one between them: the bathroom is pretty much the only place you can insist on privacy so you can take time out to be traumatized (and if necessary, just plead constipation).

That would actually make a lot of sense! And there is often an element of retreat to my characters' bathroomphilia. But the trauma has always been external to the OTP so far, and the bathroom usually ends up with both of them in it. Plus, in XF there was also a lot of random cleaning up after various incidents, and having conversations, and nearly having break-downs in bathrooms.

Clearly I need to analyze this in more depth.

BTW, it's always private bathrooms in homes or hotel rooms so far. Except with Ryo. Ryo is a special boy who hangs out in public bathrooms to text, and/or angst. Nobody ever did that before. But I wasn't counting that anyway, that's a different problem. ;-)

That poor boy - he was probably hanging out in the corridor because there was no bathroom! Who knows, maybe when the trauma grows he will abandon everything and flee that world in search of a bathroom. Never has the quote "my kingdom for a bathroom!" been more appropriate.

In terms of my writing timeline, though, I made my bathroom debut in X-Files. Or rather, my characters did. Err.

LOL! Yes, yaoi ukes also like to hang out angstily in bathrooms, don't they. :-) Though personally, I suspect they're generally just trying to be all wet and broodily tempting when their seme comes home...
