Hi, my name is Sylvia, and I love fanfic cliches.

Undercover in a gay bar, pretending to be a couple, bodyswap, time loops, crossovers and AUs, amnesia, telepathy, superpowers… ooh yes, sign me up! *g*

There are many fanfic cliches I love passionately, so the cliche bingo challenge is right up my alley. Particularly since it's a relaxed challenge that doesn't threaten my skittish inspiration ( Read more... )

What are your favorite fanfic cliches?

Aliens made them do it *g*. Or, depending on the fandom, hate turns into love (see XF or Angel)

For the aliens making them do it, yes, I also love than one - though more in theory than in practice, as most of the actual stories based on it don't work too well for me.

And first times where the straight guy realizes he's really gay for the other one.

Another tricky one for me. :-) Again, I like this in theory (provided the "straight" guy isn't really as straight as he had previously assumed), but I'm unfond of the "I'm not gay, I just love you!" cliche. It's a different one, but often the two melt into each other.

I have to admit that's too close to the whole: I'm not gay, I just love you-thing.

For me the characters are always more bi than anything and that's essentielly what I want to read. Not some great angst-treaty about suddenly being gay, but two people falling in love. Actually, now that I think about it I have a realy problem with stories that facus of the sudden gayness of characters, like 'Oh my gooooddddd, I'm gay. You made me gay. Loving you makes me gay. I'm gay now.'

*g* Tastes differ :-)

Uh, thanks... I think? Pregnancy WTF. Admit it, you giggled. Yes?

Can I snaffle this for haikuesque? I'm not likely to write much by myself in the next wee while (and when I do I want it to be the X epic).

Admit it, you giggled.

I did smile a tiny little Ryo-sized bit. *g* But where's the fun in it if it's all cliches you'd have picked for yourself?

And it could have been worse - it isn't the MPREG cliche, so there are a lot of ways of chickening out turning it into something that works for you.

Can I snaffle this for haikuesque?

Sure! Didn't mean to imply you had to bingo by yourself - I was assuming you'd take it corporate anyway.

Wow, this looks like fun! Just so I understand right... do you write one story for each of the spaces needed for a bingo (4 or 5 total), or just one fic using the 4 or 5 prompts that make up a bingo column/row?

Hmm, I'll have to go and read the cliche_bingo post: it's too bad I missed it earlier, this sounds like a fun challenge.

Sure, I'd love a card but haven't read Twilight, so no sparkly boys from me, sorry.

The bingo rules are complicated, but flexible. :-) Yes, have a look at the comm - it really is a great idea, imo. Which is of course why so many people signed up for it.

I'll be glad to make you an unofficial card! Give me a bit, I'll get back to you.

but haven't read Twilight, so no sparkly boys from me, sorry.

EEEEK! The sparkly boy is not a Twilight sparkly boy! No, no, I meant my Japanese boyband sparkly dancing boy. Who is not actually sparkly by himself, when not wearing clothes. Or body glitter. ;-)

Will add immediate ETA. *g*

Okay, now that I've read the bingo rules, I understand the concept - and I like it!

Take your time, I've got multiple fics in progress as it is. I look forward to it!

Ah, the pretty Japanese boybands! I should have known. Very pretty, very sparkly, and I approve of glitter. Still, I shall stick to psychic assassins, shinigami, ninja and possibly tennis players that are 18, I don't care that canon says they are 14/15.

I am so with you, there is no way those boys are 12-15. ::grin::

Oh my gosh, that sounds like so much fun. Oh~ could I maybe ask you to make a card for me if it isn't too much trouble? I will be thrilled to write you a fic using one of the squares! You can pick that sparkly dancing boys of your choice! ^_^

Yes! I really enjoy writing request fic. I am ok with any combination of boys in KAT-TUN, NewS, Kanjani 8, and Arashi.

Also... I am currently working on a Junno/Ryo AU fic, I was totally inspired by , it's not the same universe or anything, but I never would have considered that pairing if not for your incredible fic... is it ok if I dedicate it to you?

^_^
