I think they should have condensed it a bit. Overall, I do feel like anyone who weren't that invested with or don't care about anything happening with Jon Snow and the Wall storyline would definitely have been bored. I only cared about Jon/Ygritte, and Sam was adorable.
YES. I am not interested in Jon Snow, wasn't interested in the entire Wildling storyline, and was unspeakably bored by this ep. As well as somewhat angered that they actually spent an *entire ep* on too-dark, repetitive and unexciting rushing back and forth. It looked to me as though the battle was badly done and wouldn't be suspenseful even to someone who actually IS interested in Jon/The Wall/the Wildlings.
Sam was indeed adorable, although I confess I still don't (and no doubt never will) feel the romance between him and Gilly. They're both sweet people, but I have the impression they don't actually see each other as the person they are at all; they're just people of a certain gender who came along at the right time and fill certain roles. If I've expressed that in a way that makes sense. :-)
