So, really, all Agron needs to do is live, and all Nasir needs to do is set his head straight. And they should then both continue to live, damn it.

I don't know where this came from, but there is a part of the fandom who believes that if Agron and Nasir would have a happy ending then it would be on a goat farm. Whut! o_O

Amem to the rest because TRUE.

Awww! Cute. :-)

I don't know about the goat farm, but there are plenty of fights to be found East of the Rhine, for example, where barbarians roam wild and free. They could join a tribe looking for two more strong swords. Or a band of mercenaries. Open an inn, once they want to retire. Adopt some orphans, teach them to fight and be over-protective about them. Or, sure, herd goats. So many choices! :-)

Ahhh now you make me want to watch the rest of it despite the god-awful Caesar! But it makes sense that if anyone does survive the final massacre, it'd be Nagron. Which would please me immeasurably if only because it'd be such a nice change to having a het couple swan off into the sunset.

Caesar does get a tiny bit better, though he does remain mostly wtf. But some other developments with the Romans are quite interesting, and I like the Crassus characterization more and more. Particularly in tandem with the (entirely fictional) character of Tiberius Crassus, who isn't done as well, but works very well indeed as an echo to Crassus the Elder ( ... )

Yeah I was wondering if they'd save Spartacus precisely because of that reason, but also hoping that they didn't because wow, the survival guilt would be just horrific and the story arc would just be a joke.

Hmmm hmm I may go back and watch this season once it's all over and done with, so let me know if Everyone Dies At The End ;)

Exactly. There's no way Spartacus *won't* die, once he loses the final battle and thousands of his people are captured and crucified. For one thing, he would never abandon them, but would fight until either dead or captured, and for another, even if someone tied him up and tossed him bodily to safety - at this point, there really is nothing left for him except free and protect slaves and fight Romans. He'd only end up doing the same thing all over again. West of the Rhine, maybe. ;-)

Okay, I'll give you a shout! I've been hoping I'd have enough sense not to watch the last two eps before the entire series is over and I can look for spoilers, but that's not going to happen, I'm afraid. Gah.

I totally agree with what you have written here.
I mean, if they had seriously wanted to kill of Agron, they'd have done it differently - since he was portrayed as Spartacus' most loyal follower and friend. Sure, he maybe had to take a step back against Crixus, but they'd surely have given us a very spectacular death - like Crixus.

Some of the trailers + spoiler pics seem to support the theory that he survives too - although those could possibly have been cut from other episodes. I've also heard that Daniel apparently said in an interview that he wasn't there while filming the last big battle scene. And now I'm left wondering whether or not Agron survives while Nasir goes off to war. Or if we might possibly even get a happy ending ...

Yes! Even though Crixus' death was definitely the main death in this ep, and would have been regardless of who else died (unless it was Spartacus himself), Agron's still one of the three rebel generals. Hardly getting more of a death scene than Donar...? I just can't see it.

I've also heard about the spoilery pics, and have been calmed by them, though - like you - I'm not sure how much store can be set by them. I hadn't heard about Daniel and the last battle scene yet, but I imagine that Agron would be too severely injured to take part in another battle so soon, no matter what...

Oh, I am so hoping for an ending where Agron and Nasir survive. I hadn't actually started believing it was possible at all until recently, but in a way, this fake-out about Agron's death is encouraging. Why bother tormenting viewers with a maybe-death if he's just going to die for real soon after...?

Okay, that's really a weak point, I admit it. ;-) But a girl can hope!

OMG that is such a good argument, actually!
I hadn't even thought about how the fake-out considering Agron's death would only make sense if he in fact doesn't die later.
I just keep thinking about the terrible things they did to the slaves they captured, so I really REALLY hope that they both kind of ... slip away?

I want them to either die together or live happily together.
