Disclaimer: The song and characters do not belong to me. All have their owners and I am only borrowing them for entertainment purposes. No infringement intended.
A/N: This one came from a song prompt and I thought how perfect for a ‘jump into Ianto’s mind’ fic, oh how I’d love to be able to do that!
I do know I have that last chapter of ‘Stay’ to do and it is nearly finished! I have not forgotten about it.
This was also going to be a one shot but LJ wouldn't let me post it all so it's been split (Can blame the word limit for that and not me... mwhahaha)

Wanted
“Funny sort of weather patterns,” I told him when he asked me what I had found out, all the while squeezing my shoulder gently. He knew what he was doing. I knew what he was doing but what I didn’t know was why.
Jack was known for his sexy, flirty, innovative and bordering on avant-garde reputation but I wondered why, all of a sudden, that was aimed at me.
Ianto felt Jack shift his touch, letting his hand fall further into the middle of his back as Ianto pretended to study the patterns on the computer screen. He tensed a little and hoped Jack wouldn’t notice but nothing got past Captain Jack very easily and he stilled his hand.
“You okay?” he asked.
“Yes,” Ianto swallowed. I wish he’d move his hand. “Why do you ask?”
“You feel a little tense.” Jack started moving his fingers in small circles as he attempted to fight the muscles in Ianto’s upper back.
“Comes with the job, Sir,” Ianto explained. He lent forward in his chair very slightly. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.
“Suppose,” Jack agreed. His movements got harder as he pushed into Ianto’s skin through his jacket and shirt. “If you ever need a break, you will tell me won’t you?”
Ianto nodded. He had just returned that week from suspension, if you could call it that. Jack had visited him practically every day to see how he was coping. Most of the time Ianto had wanted to throw him out on his arse and tell him just to stay away but somehow Jack had made it easier by just being there. They hardly spoke to each other but it didn’t matter.
Ianto closed his eyes and sighed.
How long had he been doing that?
Jack had brought his other hand up to join in with trying to relax Ianto. His thumbs dug into his shoulder blades as his fingers massaged the bottom of his neck softly, letting the contrasting feelings bring Ianto into a slightly dazed state.
“You ever need anything you tell me,” Jack told me softly as he continued to soothe my aching muscles. I could feel the strength of his hands work through his fingers. His hands had been a slight fixation whenever they had reached out to take a coffee mug or his freshly dry-cleaned coat. Sometimes I felt his finger tips brush past mine and for some reason; I wondered what it would be like for him to touch me with those hands.
Ianto let out an unconscious groan as Jack successfully loosened his shoulders. Jack chuckled.
“Like that?”
“Yes,” I replied. God, that feels so good.
Ianto lent back into his chair, letting Jack relax him completely in an understanding that this was exactly what he needed.
“I meant it, what I said,” Jack said.
“Hmm?” Ianto replied.
“Anything. Anything that you need,” Jack’s hands stopped moving and Ianto opened his eyes. “Anything that you want,” Jack whispered closely into his ear.
I shivered as I felt his breath hit my skin. It was warm and tingly, unlike something I had felt before. I shouldn’t be doing this, shouldn’t be letting him do this to me, it’s not what I want.
“I can give it to you, Ianto,” he continued to whisper to me. I think the conversation has moved on from time off work but why is he saying this to me? Why now?
“I have to go,” Ianto said as he shot forward, colliding slightly with the desk as he struggled to get away quickly enough. Jack stayed where he was, leaning on the back of the chair as he watched Ianto jump to his feet and walk away.
“Stay,” Jack said calmly but loud enough for it to reach out to him. Ianto stopped. He turned back to see the Captain staring at him. His eyes were fixed on him in a way Ianto hadn’t seen him do before.
“I can’t,” Ianto shook his head.
“Stay with me tonight.”
“No,” Ianto shook his head a little firmer this time. “I really, really can’t.”
Jack stood tall, hands in his pockets, looking relaxed and completely in control of himself. “Yes, you can.”
“Can I?” I asked him shakily wondering what the hell I was asking him that for. I had no idea what I was doing. I should be out of that door by now but I felt like Jack had hooked onto me and was pulling me back in slowly with that unfamiliar look, one which was making me a little nervous. Somehow I had got closer to him again, I wasn’t too sure if he had moved or if I had.
“I want you to stay,” he said. I felt his breath hit my face. The hot, tingly feeling came back and it felt good.
“You do?” I asked only to get a reply so I could feel his breath once again but was disappointed when he nodded instead.
Now he’s looking into my eyes and I just know I’m in trouble. I am in way over my head but I can’t escape, I haven’t got that strength to say goodnight and walk away. I don’t want this but he’s taken me and I’m so lost all I can do is let him.
“Ianto,” Jack said softly, his hand catching one of the younger mans and rubbing his fingers over the back of it slowly. Ianto couldn’t speak; he couldn’t find the words to say anything.
Kiss him. Leave him. Kiss him. Leave him. Kiss him - what do I do?!
Jack stepped further forward; he pressed his body fully against Ianto’s, letting him feel them together and pulled his arms around Ianto’s back to keep him there. Jack lent in slowly and kissed him softly on the lips.
Oh God.
Ianto didn’t move. He let Jack’s mouth ghost over his as they stood quietly in the middle of the Hub, his eyes fluttering shut as he waited for Jack to do more. Jack pulled away a little.
“You’re going to have to give me something here,” he said, his lips millimetres away from Ianto’s own.
Ianto reopened his eyes and cleared his throat. “I shouldn’t be here,” he whispered. Jack sighed and released him from the embrace.
“I’m not stopping you,” his tone had dampened and he took a small step back.
He wants this. He really, really wants this but I can’t give it to him. I can’t make myself do it.
“I’m sorry,” I said before I turned and walked away.

I can see him. He’s standing in his office, looking out of the pane of glass that separates him from the rest of the Hub. Arms folded, head bowed just a little and eyes in my direction. I try not to let our glances catch for I’m worried that the blush on my cheeks will arouse suspicion.
“Ianto?” Toshiko said with a little wave in front of his face.
“Sorry, I was miles away,” Ianto admitted with a small smile.
“So I could see, anywhere nice?”
“I’m not sure.” He’s still there, still looking.
Toshiko frowned as she sipped at her coffee. She had been the first to talk to Ianto again after the whole Lisa incident, except for Jack but that was different. Toshiko was a close friend, one who Ianto had always considered an important part of his life. He felt ashamed after lying for so long to her but her sweet and honest nature let her forgive him and move on.
“Tosh! Pub?” Ianto heard Owen shout from his workstation. He noted the lack of invitation for himself but that was normal.
“Yeah, one sec!” Toshiko shouted back in her quiet voice.
“Are you coming?” she asked me as she jumped down from the stool she had been sat on.
I shook my head. “I don’t think Owen wants me there.” That sounded a little more pathetic than I had wanted it too.
“Ignore him, I want you there.” Toshiko was too sweet for her own good sometimes.
Ianto actually thought about it for a second. He looked to the office. Jack was gone.
“No, it’s fine,” I sighed. “I need to finish up here and I don’t think there’s time to wait.” I noticed that Owen and Gwen were now standing by the cog door with a little impatient bounce in their stance.
“I’ll see you tomorrow then,” Toshiko said as she waved goodnight to me and followed the others out of the door, muttering about something I couldn’t quite hear.
Ianto jumped slightly when he turned back to the counter to collect Toshiko’s abandoned mug. Jack was stood next to her unoccupied seat, holding his own empty mug.
“You made me jump,” Ianto said softly.
“Sorry.” Jack took a seat on the stool.
Crap, not a quick call for coffee then. I hope he doesn’t ask me-
“Why didn’t you go with them?”
Knew it.
“I didn’t feel like it,” Ianto said as he took Jack’s mug from him, making sure their hands never touched. “Didn’t you want to go with them either?”
“They’re still pissed with me.”
Oops. Unspoken territory alert!
“Was it the last resort, letting Jasmine go?” Ianto asked. Damn it. I just couldn’t help myself.
“Sacrifices have to be made, Ianto. It was either that or the end of the world,” Jack sighed and linked his hands on the counter top.
“Then you made the right decision, Sir.”
“Gwen doesn’t think so. She’s still new to all of this. She saw Jasmine as an innocent life given away unnecessarily, leaving a grieving widowed mother alone. She won’t understand.”
Ianto set the refilled mug down in front of the Captain.
“Is that all I can do for you, Sir?” Ianto asked as he wiped his hands on the tea towel and switched off the coffee machine.
“Not quite,” Jack said and I looked up to him. He wanted to talk about last night, I could tell. I knew it was going to come up at some point. “I just needed to check if you were up for the field mission in the Beacons tomorrow?”
Oh.
“Yeah,” I replied with a nod. “You need someone to give the directions.”
“That’s not why I’m asking you to come,” Jack said. “I want you out there with the rest of the team.”
“Do you think they want me there though?” Ianto asked.
“I don’t care what they want. We’re a team, one which you are a part of. Besides, I need one of you to back me up.”
“Then I’ll happily be there to do that Sir, but only if I agree with you of course.”
Jack chuckled. “Good.”
I thought that was the perfect time for Jack to say goodnight and walk away, back to his office where he spends every night. I think he knows I know he lives here, the others have no idea or they have just never mentioned it but I always wonder how lonely someone must be to be stuck in the same world day in day out, to have no escape from it, but that’s him. He’s just a man full of mystery and secrets and I can understand how attractive that must be to someone, he has the ability to get under your skin and make you feel something so mad and wild and that’s without even saying a word. Just the way he looks at you. His eyes talk of a thousand stories of unimaginable places which are so wonderful you think, for some reason, you can see it yourself.
I suddenly realised no one had spoken for some time. I’d just been staring at him and he was staring back at me with those piercing blue eyes.
“Jack,” I began then stuttered. “Sir.”
“Yes?” Jack smiled a little. A short pause left them to do nothing but stare for several long seconds.
“Nothing,” Ianto said quietly as he dropped his chin, loosing eye contact and breathing again. “It can wait.” Jack narrowed his eyes as he watched Ianto shuffle a little uncomfortably behind the counter then Jack gave him a nod.
“Very well. Night Ianto,” he said then turned on his heel and walked back to his office with his coffee for company.
“Night,” Ianto replied when Jack had disappeared behind his door. He switched off the lights in the small kitchen, collected his coat and dimmed the lights of the main Hub. Before leaving through the cog door he turned back to see the soft light beam through the office window and the shadows dance around the Hub walls. He understood what it was like to be alone.
But I can’t tell you. Not yet.
