I too often wonder just how they made it back to Doriath after the battle, and now you gave us a great explanation :)

This is greatly done. I like the shifts of POVs, and the insights into the thoughts of Ecthelion, Beleg and Mablung. The idea of the man returning the bow and quiver to Beleg is awesome. This very moment made me go like 'awwww, never doubt a friend'.

An awesome story to celebrate the anniversary of the Silm :D Thank you for sharing!

*squees* I am glad you liked it, it was a nice change to write these fabulous elves. I was going over the Nirnaeth research I did this summer and suddenly wondered: how on earth could they have escaped that carnage? KNowing all the strategic and war-details, it suddenly all made sense who was where and how: only what Mablung and Beleg were doing was an enigma. They would never ever fight for the Fëanorians given what happened with Luthien & Beren, neither could they have been in Fingon's part of the host because everyone was killed before Fingon himself was killed by Gothmog... This combined with Beleg's earlier alliance with the house of Brethil, a wee bit of foreshadowing of what was to come... and honestly, Trek and I had great fun thinking of those muscular sindar elves who can wield an axe so greatly... :)

Oh and *hugs* thanks for this wonderful review!
