Rhapsody Series Part 1 On-going Reference Timeline
I will update this timeline as I post each new chapter to Tenebrosity & Sfumato. This can be used as a reference because the story spans such a large amount of time.
This is of course an extremely condensed version of the one I use and I've tried to put the major plot points in this one.

Justin is on stairs, in pain, pulls himself into the bedroom. Brian helps Justin into the bathroom, then they fight and Justin falls asleep beside the bed.
Brian wakes Justin up when he can’t sleep because of Justin’s moaning from pain, begs Justin to say he needs him. When Justin won’t he locks him out of the room and they continue to fight. Finally, Brian gives him one last chance.
Justin desperately tells him he does need him. Brian takes Justin into their room into their bed.

Justin & Arella painting in his studio while Brian watches. Arella insists on making a ‘dark rainbow’ rather than a colorful one. Justin’s hand starts to tremor and Brian massages it.

Justin sees Chris Hobbes come into store as they’re leaving, with his daughter Christina. He freaks and has flashbacks of dance.
At Kinnetik, Justin tells Brian about seeing Chris, and that sometimes he feels like he’s going crazy. Brian says he’ll always be there to pull him back from the precipice.

Justin reminds Brian that he wanted to be an animator, and working at Kinnetik doing graphic art for Rage is as close to living his dream as he can get. Painting, he loves it and is glad for his success but it isn’t what his dream is. He gets to choose what ways he wants to be an artist, no one else.
Brian asks Justin to marry him again. They want to do it but not make a big deal of it.

Day 66 ½ since the incident
Brian receives a new voice mail schedule message on his phone, it’s a reminder Justin set previously to remind Brian about Arella’s recital which should have been that night.
Justin has tried to commit suicide, by taking Tylenol, (he is not a child who can’t decipher between that and his allergy medicine). Jennifer begs Brian to help Justin and make sure it won’t ever happen again.

Debbie & Jennifer have enlisted the help of Valerie, Justin’s best friend, to get Justin help. They think if they send him to the artist retreat Valerie went to, it will help him. Justin mistakes Valerie’s motives and thinks it’s because he missed a show in her gallery and she lost money and wants more paintings to recoup. He’s a complete mess and freaking out, Brian gets home and makes the women leave and he and Justin make a ‘pact’ to pretend that things are okay in front of everyone.

Brian wakes from a nightmare, Justin is beside him, unable to sleep because of the pain in his leg. Brian recalls finding Justin in their bed earlier that night and jerking off watching him sleep. Justin asks Brian to go for a walk. They walk to the Koi pond, memories of the happiness they shared prevalent. Both deal with the desire they have for the other, Justin admits that he hasn’t gotten hard and has been unable to come for years. His body is so malnourished that his libido is barely present, but sitting beside Brian on the bench so close, it makes itself known.

They take a shower to warm up from their walk and Brian helps wash Justin, only now seeing so plainly how thin Justin is and it scares him so much but he doesn’t want to ‘rock the boat’ and say anything to Justin about it right now, not tonight. They go to the bed and Justin is hard and touching himself but he can hardly open his hand enough to stroke his cock and admits this to Brian. Justin’s libido rises again and with Brian’s help, he is unable to willingly look at the scars on Brian’s neck, though Brian demands it of him because they only remind him of his own guilt, though Brian believes the opposite, that Justin won’t look because he’s reminded of Brian’s guilt in it. Finally, with much pain and fear Justin stares at Brian’s scars as Brian confesses things Justin that he’s longed to speak of but was too scared of doing, telling him that he’s scared of what life is going to be like when he leaves him. Justin is terrified and doesn’t want Brian to leave him, so he opens his eyes and puts his hand against Brian’s neck, feeling the scars and tells Brian what he hasn’t said in a long time, that he loves him. They both achieve a painful but pleasurable orgasm. Justin begs Brian not to leave him, not to threaten that no matter how crazy he is and Brian tells him, ‘in good times and in bad’ as answer. Justin sort of freaks out about the intimacy after that, which Brian had predicted.

Brian finds Justin reading, when Justin places the book down to go shower, Brian sees that he’s reading The Hatchet and recalls the story of a boy’s survival against all odds, a story he remembers reading to Gus and thinks it might be a good thing Justin is reading it, maybe it will help him somehow.
Lindsay is leaving today and is coming to say goodbye to Gus. Brian can’t find him at first but finally does out in the backyard, huddled inside the playhouse that was once his own and later Arella’s. Gus confronts his father about allowing Justin to control everything about Arella since she died, about not allowing pictures of her to be around, about them not talking about her. He asks Brian, “Can’t I just miss her, can’t I?”
Brian is afraid that he’s seeing too much of himself as a boy in Gus now, the pain and anguish he felt, he tells him he can miss Arella, but that Justin and him deal with things differently than others. Gus asks if he’s going to let Lindsay take him with her if she wanted, Brian says he doesn’t think Lindsay would do that, but that he’d do his best to make sure Gus stays with them.

Gus is about to leave to spend Hanukkah with Melanie and Jenny, he sees The Hatchet lying on the table and Brian stops him from taking it with him on the plane, telling him that Justin is reading it. Gus goes to get his suitcase and Brian finds the bookmarked page of where Justin is at in the book, it’s a pivotal scene about change and mortality.
Gus was worried about not saying goodbye to Justin because he cried when he told him he was spending winter break with his Ma. Brian reassures Gus to say goodbye to Justin and that Britin is his home and will be there when he returns.

Brian finds Justin still reading the book. Justin’s hand is aching and Brian suggests massaging it for him. He thought Brian was going to Emmett and Drew’s New Year’s Eve bash, but Brian called to say he wouldn’t go. He wasn’t going to be gone, ‘tonight’ which is their anniversary. Justin goes to get the massage oil and Brian sees that Justin is almost done with the book. Justin comes back in and Brian gives him his present, it’s another book to The Hatchet series.
They both acknowledge the day and Justin is glad that Brian remembered because he didn’t really remember the years previous. They ring in the new year, quietly in front of the fireplace holding onto one another.

Gus goes into Kinnetik and is surprised to see Justin is there, but what he is doing is boxing up the things from his office that he kept there for Arella. Justin covets the box of items on the way home and as they pull up to the house he starts sobbing and rushes inside.

Gus and his friend, Brent, are taking their little sisters trick or treating while their parents enjoy an ‘adult’ Halloween party. Suddenly, Lindsay rushes toward them, telling Gus that his father and Arella were hurt and that they need to go home immediately and get on a plane.
Gus takes us through the hours of waiting and not getting to see Arella because Justin won’t allow anyone to see her or know how she is. He’s terrified.

He overhears Brian and Justin screaming at one another and confronts them both, in the end he ends up deciding to go to a party at one of his friends houses, this freaks Justin out because Gus will be driving there.

Justin completes his final piece for the show in Philly and is apprehensive about including it because of how revealing it is of the last few months of his life.
Gus stayed for the weekend and Brian had left to take him to airport while Justin finished his painting. Justin reflects on how ‘easy’ it was to have Gus full time, even if only for a few days. Brian comes home and finds him in the studio and is worried about Justin’s hand because it has gotten worse lately and Justin has a doctor appointment soon to be sure it isn’t something in his brain causing him to be this way. Justin wants to draw Brian but settles for taking photos of him, which leads to him being turned on and then it leads to him sucking Brian off.
They go downstairs to eat and Justin and Brian discuss Gus and maybe having him come during his spring break. Gus feels disillusioned by love. He goes home and reads a note Justin left him, it's a note of apology and it also tells Gus that he is seeking help to move forward.
Re-inspired by love, the love Justin and Brian have, Gus gives the flowers and chocolates to Brian and Justin, pretending like they are from one another and not from him.

Gus' plan of giving away the gifts has worked and he reflects on last night when Brian and Justin were displaying affection, laughing together and showing their love for one another while they watched a comedy special with Gus.
Gus runs into Hunter at Kinnetik who comments that Brian is exhausted lately and that it is good Justin is 'back' at work, or at least transitioning to be. Hunter also tells Gus that he's worried about Brian and wonders if he hasn't been sleeping but Gus says that he has been but Hunter urges Gus to talk to Brian and get him to take a break.
Gus goes to talk to Brian and in the middle of the conversation Brian collapses. Gus calls 911 and as they're loading Brian into the ambulance, he tries to get Justin to come with them, but Justin is in a state of shock at what is happening but finally he manages to get through to Justin and they both ride in the ambulance with Brian.

In Philadelphia for Justin's show:
Justin meets with Valerie and tells her about his 'manipulative' plan to have Brian there with him a few days early to go to an appointment with the surrogacy center there.
Valerie doesn't think tricking Brian is a good idea and urges Justin to tell Brian the truth and so Justin leaves and goes up to the hotel room to talk to Brian.
Unfortunately, Brian has already taken the call (they called Justin's cell phone) that confirmed the appointment. He's pissed but after talking about it, Brian forgives Justin and Justin promises never to do anything like that again, because he is happy with it being only him and Brian.

Gus tells Justin about Molly going into labor and giving birth early to Violet. He wants Justin to go the hospital with him, but Justin cannot.
Brian is at home and Justin goes upstairs to the bedroom to take care of him, not wanting to tell him about Molly because he’s not supposed to have any stress on him. Brian thinks he’s freaking about his scars, but Justin explains it isn’t that, it’s that he’s scared because he could’ve lost him.
Justin makes dinner, eats separately and Brian is concerned that Justin isn’t eating enough but Justin tells him he’s trying the best he can. Moments of clarity and how life is, how he needs to be in it, is hitting Justin. He makes Brian a bath and Brian asks him to join him. He encourages Justin to masturbate for him when he sees Justin is hard, but Justin is unable to but still takes pleasure in bathing Brian.

Gus tells Brian that he’s a runner-up for a spot in the Study Abroad program at CM.
Gus talks to Melanie and she explains she thought it was better after Arella died not to be in Pittsburgh so much because of how badly Brian and Justin were taking her death, and hopes that Gus isn’t putting himself in the middle of that too much.
Val tries calling the house, Justin tells him not to answer it. Arella’s greeting message is still on the machine.

Justin feels like Brian has distanced himself from him. He talks to his mother and agrees for him and Brian to go to dinner on the 19th for a party for Violet. Brian talks to Michael who invites them over for his birthday dinner a last minute thing. Brian goes to talk to Justin and tells Justin how proud he is of him, how strong he is, for agreeing to go to Violet’s dinner.
Justin is outside on the porch and Debbie confronts him about his weight and also they talk about how Justin can learn to move forward and find a new ‘him’.
Harper & Hunter announce pregnancy.
Brian and Justin go home and Justin is trying to eat some of Ben’s cake but it’s really gross. Brian thinks he’s trying to get out of eating until he takes a bite and realizes it really is gross. Discusses wanting to stay home from work tomorrow because of how everyone at the office is going to talk about the baby. Justin feels bad about himself for wanting to hide. He feels like he’s stuck in a nightmare, but Brian promises not to leave him in it and to be with him while it disappears.

Brian’s mother died and Justin wakes alone in bed and goes to find Brian, expecting much worse than he finds. He’s surprised but also very proud that Brian has chosen a different way of dealing with his pain. Brian shows him the silver pocket watch that is broken, that his grandfather gave it to his great-grandfather, it says, ‘To Pa’ and can only be fixed by the people who made it as they have the only key. He’s wearing his grandmother’s silver locket that had a picture of Brian and Claire when they were children. His grandparents went back to live in Ireland shortly after Jack and Joan married; they doted on Brian and died when he was six.
Brian can’t sleep and won’t go back to bed with Justin, so Justin uses his own tricks to get Brian relaxed and to help lure him out of the grief he feels.

Justin leaving his psychiatrist appt. when he notices Ben walking out of a family law office and grows concerned. He agrees to have lunch with Ben and finds out that Ben and Michael are looking to adopt a child. He also finds out that they were in the process of doing so the year Arella died and stopped their mission when it happened. Justin flips out about this but Ben speaks to him and eventually calms him down and tells Justin that maybe he should tell Brian, and Gus but they don’t want anyone else to know in case things don’t work out.

Brian discusses how well Justin is doing and about Justin telling him about Michael and Ben looking to adopt.
Jake has arrived for PT for both of them and Brian has awoken to breakfast that Justin made, another good sign of his recovery, added to Justin working on his therapy alone. Brian still is using a cane though his gait is stronger now. Jake tells Brian that Justin is a lot more talkative now. Jake says Justin talks to him, not just the therapist because he needs a friend and Brian vows to call Valerie himself. Jake continues to work with Brian and Justin who are both doing very well, even if it is annoying to them.

Brian and Justin both went to the doctor for various tests and Brian gets the okay to drive again. Justin is going to get a bone density test at the end of May due to the anorexia. He is doing better though.
Brian is caught by Cynthia while he’s spying on Justin in his office. Cynthia talks to Brian and tells him about Nolan wanting to get married and have child. Brian is freaking out about the baby boom that is ensuing. Nolan is 6 years younger and she’s worried about waiting but Brian tells her she can take whatever time she needs to do what she needs to do, she’ll always have a job there at Kinnetik when she wants it.
Brian goes to talk to Justin and brings up tomorrow night’s dinner and Justin assures Brian he’s going and that he’s going to be fine.

After leaving the dinner, Brian recreates how he felt about it. He’s uneasy and freaking out and almost misses Michael and Ben’s house to drop off Gus to stay the night. He’s so shaken up and doesn’t understand how Justin is all smiley and giddy. It isn’t fair. When he saw Justin hold Violet, he felt like his world was ending and felt so bitter toward him for remaining so calm when he was barely managing it. He thinks that Justin has betrayed him and Arella for how he’s acted the last three years and is now just leaving him alone to deal with the wreckage.
They get home and Justin says he’s going for a run, ignoring Brian’s shitty attitude. Brian is pissed! He waits until Justin leaves the house and makes for Arella’s room.
Brian enters Arella’s room and sees how it is now and recalls her life and so many wonderful things that took place in the room. He full-out grieves for his child like he never has and is so angry with Justin from keeping this from him.

Brian recounts some of the events of what happened to Arella and how long she was kept alive as he was in a coma. Brian finds Justin reading, when Justin places the book down to go shower, Brian sees that he’s reading The Hatchet and recalls the story of a boy’s survival against all odds, a story he remembers reading to Gus and thinks it might be a good thing Justin is reading it, maybe it will help him somehow.
Lindsay is leaving today and is coming to say goodbye to Gus. Brian can’t find him at first but finally does out in the backyard, huddled inside the playhouse that was once his own and later Arella’s. Gus confronts his father about allowing Justin to control everything about Arella since she died, about not allowing pictures of her to be around, about them not talking about her. He asks Brian, “Can’t I just miss her, can’t I?”
Brian is afraid that he’s seeing too much of himself as a boy in Gus now, the pain and anguish he felt, he tells him he can miss Arella, but that Justin and him deal with things differently than others. Gus asks if he’s going to let Lindsay take him with her if she wanted, Brian says he doesn’t think Lindsay would do that, but that he’d do his best to make sure Gus stays with them.

Gus is about to leave to spend Hanukkah with Melanie and Jenny, he sees The Hatchet lying on the table and Brian stops him from taking it with him on the plane, telling him that Justin is reading it. Gus goes to get his suitcase and Brian finds the bookmarked page of where Justin is at in the book, it’s a pivotal scene about change and mortality.
Gus was worried about not saying goodbye to Justin because he cried when he told him he was spending winter break with his Ma. Brian reassures Gus to say goodbye to Justin and that Britin is his home and will be there when he returns.

Justin completes his final piece for the show in Philly and is apprehensive about including it because of how revealing it is of the last few months of his life.
Gus stayed for the weekend and Brian had left to take him to airport while Justin finished his painting. Justin reflects on how ‘easy’ it was to have Gus full time, even if only for a few days. Brian comes home and finds him in the studio and is worried about Justin’s hand because it has gotten worse lately and Justin has a doctor appointment soon to be sure it isn’t something in his brain causing him to be this way. Justin wants to draw Brian but settles for taking photos of him, which leads to him being turned on and then it leads to him sucking Brian off.

Gus' plan of giving away the gifts has worked and he reflects on last night when Brian and Justin were displaying affection, laughing together and showing their love for one another while they watched a comedy special with Gus.
Gus runs into Hunter at Kinnetik who comments that Brian is exhausted lately and that it is good Justin is 'back' at work, or at least transitioning to be. Hunter also tells Gus that he's worried about Brian and wonders if he hasn't been sleeping but Gus says that he has been but Hunter urges Gus to talk to Brian and get him to take a break.
Gus goes to talk to Brian and in the middle of the conversation Brian collapses. Gus calls 911 and as they're loading Brian into the ambulance, he tries to get Justin to come with them, but Justin is in a state of shock at what is happening but finally he manages to get through to Justin and they both ride in the ambulance with Brian.

Justin meets with Valerie and tells her about his 'manipulative' plan to have Brian there with him a few days early to go to an appointment with the surrogacy center there.
Valerie doesn't think tricking Brian is a good idea and urges Justin to tell Brian the truth and so Justin leaves and goes up to the hotel room to talk to Brian.
Unfortunately, Brian has already taken the call (they called Justin's cell phone) that confirmed the appointment. He's pissed but after talking about it, Brian forgives Justin and Justin promises never to do anything like that again, because he is happy with it being only him and Brian.

Brian’s mother died and Justin wakes alone in bed and goes to find Brian, expecting much worse than he finds. He’s surprised but also very proud that Brian has chosen a different way of dealing with his pain. Brian shows him the silver pocket watch that is broken, that his grandfather gave it to his great-grandfather, it says, ‘To Pa’ and can only be fixed by the people who made it as they have the only key. He’s wearing his grandmother’s silver locket that had a picture of Brian and Claire when they were children. His grandparents went back to live in Ireland shortly after Jack and Joan married; they doted on Brian and died when he was six.
Brian can’t sleep and won’t go back to bed with Justin, so Justin uses his own tricks to get Brian relaxed and to help lure him out of the grief he feels.

Justin leaving his psychiatrist appt. when he notices Ben walking out of a family law office and grows concerned. He agrees to have lunch with Ben and finds out that Ben and Michael are looking to adopt a child. He also finds out that they were in the process of doing so the year Arella died and stopped their mission when it happened. Justin flips out about this but Ben speaks to him and eventually calms him down and tells Justin that maybe he should tell Brian, and Gus but they don’t want anyone else to know in case things don’t work out.

Jake has arrived for PT for both of them and Brian has awoken to breakfast that Justin made, another good sign of his recovery, added to Justin working on his therapy alone. Brian still is using a cane though his gait is stronger now. Jake tells Brian that Justin is a lot more talkative now. Jake says Justin talks to him, not just the therapist because he needs a friend and Brian vows to call Valerie himself. Jake continues to work with Brian and Justin who are both doing very well, even if it is annoying to them.

Brian and Justin both went to the doctor for various tests and Brian gets the okay to drive again. Justin is going to get a bone density test at the end of May due to the anorexia. He is doing better though.

Brian is freaking out about the baby boom that is ensuing. Nolan is 6 years younger and she’s worried about waiting but Brian tells her she can take whatever time she needs to do what she needs to do, she’ll always have a job there at Kinnetik when she wants it.
Brian goes to talk to Justin and brings up tomorrow night’s dinner and Justin assures Brian he’s going and that he’s going to be fine.

After leaving the dinner, Brian recreates how he felt about it. He’s uneasy and freaking out and almost misses Michael and Ben’s house to drop off Gus to stay the night. He’s so shaken up and doesn’t understand how Justin is all smiley and giddy. It isn’t fair. When he saw Justin hold Violet, he felt like his world was ending and felt so bitter toward him for remaining so calm when he was barely managing it. He thinks that Justin has betrayed him and Arella for how he’s acted the last three years and is now just leaving him alone to deal with the wreckage.
They get home and Justin says he’s going for a run, ignoring Brian’s shitty attitude. Brian is pissed! He waits until Justin leaves the house and makes for Arella’s room.
Brian enters Arella’s room and sees how it is now and recalls her life and so many wonderful things that took place in the room. He full-out grieves for his child like he never has and is so angry with Justin from keeping this from him.

Brian and Justin getting things together for Arella to wear and to place with her in her casket. Brian recounts some of the events of what happened to Arella and how long she was kept alive as he was in a coma. As they leave her room, Justin makes Brian promise not to go in there again until he’s ready to hear the sound of the door open without her being the one that does it.
