The two species are closely related, so makes sense. That really is the cutest thing I've seen all day.

they change into an ermine in the movie as well though mostly they seem to be a ferret (possibly a black footed one)

I'm pretty sure that they're both weasels, so of course an ermine looks like a ferret.

They are related, but that picture looks too much like a black footed ferret or really darn close anyways. Its probably just its 'Summer coat', since all the plushies I've seen for it are of a completely white ermine.
