Title: Even Heroes Get Scared
Author: Robin Gurl
Part: 1/1
Pairing: o.O I suppose if you squint it could be US UK…I kinda wrote it more as a fatherly thing though.
Summary: Thunderstorms are very loud, it doesn’t matter how old you are they are still flippin’ scary.
Notes: This author is stuck in a thunderstorm and is terrified of them. Mew. She wishes she either had a Germany, a Sweden or a Britain to snuggle up to until it went away.
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the idea.
Arthur Kirkland was awoken quite rudely in the middle of the night when something very large leapt into his bed shaking the mattress and nearly knocking him off of it. He sat up obviously angry with the intruder wiping sleep from his eyes. “What the bloody hell?”
Lightening flashed through his giant bay window illuminating the room just briefly enough to see it was Alfred clinging to him. His anger softened to being annoyed but he didn’t push the other country out of his bed. Instead he calmly pulled the covers back and watched as nervously Alfred moved underneath them, his eyes wide and wet with tears.
Thunder rocked the old house causing some of the standalone shelves to rattle, America let out a muffled scream throwing himself at Britain and burying his face into the other man’s chest shaking with fear. “Dude, just hold me..” He said hoarsely. “I’m sorry..once it’s goes away I’ll leave.”
So much for being a super country, he thought with amusement as he used one of his hands to stroke the blonde hair and wipe a few tears away. After seeing the state the country was in he decided against the insults and instead let his maternal side take over. “It’s just a thunderstorm, lad. Nothing to be afraid of.” Then he added a comforting, “You can stay. I just thought you grew out of this.”
Alfred looked like he was going to respond but didn’t get a chance to. He thought he’d grown out of this as well but being at his old home, the one he grew up in, knowing there was someone there this time to hold him while he cried changed everything.
Lightening lit up the sky and the room again and this time Arthur was prepared for it. Just like when Alfred was younger, he quickly took both his hands and covered both of Alfred’s ears holding him close to hide the bright flashes of light then started to hum an old lullaby loud enough to over shadow most of the thunder and reach the muffled ears.
He felt Nantucket brush against his nose and gently blew it to the side, placing a gentle kiss to the other man’s head. “Just hold on to me, lad, I’ll keep you safe.” He knew it was useless to tell Alfred it was just noise and it wasn’t going to hurt him. Of course Alfred knew that at his age and it was obviously embarrassing as it was to be scared of it.
Even though it was still storming quite heavily outside he felt Alfred relax in his arms, the grip Alfred’s hands had on his nightshirt weren’t as tight either. “There we go, that’s a good boy, just relax. You’re safe. I’ve got you.”
Sleepily Alfred snuggled closer resting his face near the top of Arthur’s chest. “Thank you, Iggy.” He whispered, his voice still shaking. “You won’t tell any of the guys right?”
“What happens out of the meetings is none of their business, Alfred. Don’t be embarrassed of being afraid either, even Heroes get scared sometimes.”
End
(…should I write more USUK? I need to know. This is my first. :3)
