CBC reported in 2012 that Canadian-founded company Datawind was trying to make the world's cheapest tablet computer, for the educational market in India.

I bought something almost identical over a year ago. and use it mostly as an eBook reader. Back then, it cost about $75US including taxes and freight, and has performed flawlessly. When I replace it someday, I'm sure will find a higher spec android tablet in that same price range. I remember how expensive the first pc's were and I'm truly amazed by these inexpensive android tablets.
