I'm actually just back from Cyprus. Gosh, that article is rather poor. A comparison between Cyprus and St Martin/Sint-Maarten is flawed on so many levels it's difficult to know where to start. Characterising the problem as all about the relations between Greece and Turkey is rather problematic. And that's not to mention the factual mistakes - the TRNC's UDI was in 1983, which isn't all that "soon" after 1974, and the UN buffer zone did not come "since" but in some respects dates to 1964. Religion may be an issue for Greek Cypriots but isn't really for Turkish Cypriots. I would also say that, unlike on my previous visits, the Turkish Cypriot part of Nicosia was clearly much more economically active than the south.
