Setting aside the massive losses of life and environmental damage such an exchange would certainly bring about, one of the other issues with an Indo-Pakistan nuclear war is that it would *immediately* cripple Western economies, given how much of their IT infrastructure and support is outsourced to that area of the world. One high-altitude air-burst over Mumbai, for instance, wouldn't have to kill anybody at all to generate enough of an EMP to kill every computer in the state, along with a lot of other infrastructure.
