American writer and urban-studies specialist Richard Florida has recently moved to Toronto and started a column in the Globe and Mail. I think he's imagining something akin to the Windsor-Québec City corridor--it's certainly not entirely built up, but it is a fairly consistent string of densely-populated areas closely interconnected by fairly extensive transportation and communications networks.
