I'm pretty sure it has been confirmed.
Few days ago when the rumor started spreading out, many Japanese blog has been blocked for reading the entry about Ken's mom and there're very few websites writing about this.
According to the news, Ken lost his mom since May,20. Yet, since yesterday, lots of news about this topic can be found via internet.
I think they just let the media say about this recently.
