Primeval: Season Three, Episode Nine
In a forest somewhere. It's all very pastoral.
Until a quad bike races through on its way to a campsite. People set up tents or race around or rescue bikes.
Something cries. A biker stops to investigate. It's a sort of rhino. The parent finds him with the baby and isn't happy.

Lester calls Danny, who's 'stuck in traffic'. Actually, he's scoping out Christine's building; she's wandering around with the woman from the future and Wilder.
While Lester's busy telling Danny not to do anything because he's going to see the minister, Danny's sneaking around and getting into the building by hanging under trucks and other action hero things. He's really lucky no one on Christine's staff ever look behind themselves.
Connor's sleeping in a chair in what's apparently the only corner of the flat he's allowed be in
when Abby comes to the door. She's carrying a cardboard box, which disgorges Rex. Connor calls Sid and Nancy to play with him.
The two stumble through a conversation about how things shouldn't be weird just because she kissed him.
"I just don't want things to be weird between us."
"Absolutely. Me neither. Me neither. Don't want any...any sort of weirdness with...no weird areas here!...I'm being weird, aren't I?"
Connor attempts to get invited to move back in, but she takes Sid and Nancy back instead. She's about to say something when his detector goes off.
Danny, who apparently dressed for his spy mission in what might be maintenance scrubs, gets a text from Connor about the Anomaly.
He keeps sneaking around anyway, destroying an air vent to listen in on Christine interrogating the woman. She's not getting anywhere much.
"You know what happened?"
"The Predators. They destroyed everything."
"And where did the Predators come from?"
"I don't know. I wish I did."
At the campsite some guys attack a friend, who's on a stag. They put a bra on him and tie him to a tree on a track used by the bikers.
There's a lot of growling and thrashing leaves and things, and then a Giant Rhino Thing attacks.
Stag Night Dude rips his ropes off and runs back to the campsite, ending up in a suspiciously deserted tent. With a Baby Rhino Thing.
Christine has a computer thing she took from the woman, who claims to know nothing about it. She knows a little about Anomalies, enough to know how to find them. She promises to show Christine how, if she can only go to the ARC first.
"They're everywhere. You just have to know how to find them."
"And you know how to do that?"
"Yes. I'll show you. But first, I have to go to the Anomaly Research Centre."
"What do you know about the ARC?"
"Take me there and I'll show you."
The team arrive at the campsite. The detectors go weird before they can pin down the location, and Danny's AWOL. They hear a noise in the trees and head off.
Wilder rumbles Danny, who runs for it. The woman sneakily takes her computer thing in the commotion. Well, not very sneakily. Kind of right in the open.
The team find the crushed quad bike from earlier. Following the noises, they find a herd of Rhino Things.
Becker heads off to evacuate the area while Abby finds a bra. In a tent surrounded by the herd, Stag Night Guy builds barricades from tables.
Danny ducks into a room and finds the woman's notebook.
When she arrives with her guard they take him out together and make a run for it.
Christine and Wilder are Not Happy.
"What's going on?"
"Danny Quinn. He's in the building."
"Lock down the building. Find them."
Danny takes her with him to the Anomaly.
The team hear Stag night guy yelling. The herd's bull turns up, unsettling the - cows? - and Connor finds himself deputized to distract him. The girls split up to sneak through the herd. Sarah has a very hard time of it. In the background, Connor gets chased off by the bull.
"Look at me! Come on, ignore the girls!
Ok, I've got his attention. He likes me."
He finds a hiding spot - next to a dead body, of course -
and comes out of hiding just as a quad bike pulls up, annoying the bull. The driver ignores Connor's advice to stay still, but that does mean Connor can drive off in his quad bike.
The herd wander off after the bull - weird, because he was upsetting them a couple of minutes ago - and Abby climbs into the tent when she hears the Baby Rhino Thing calling. She also comes across Stag Night Guy.
"What are those things out there?"
"Let me get you out, then we can chat."
"Wait a minute. You're not the stripper, are you?"
"Do you want to get out of here alive or not?...Do I look like a stripper?"
"Well..."
"Don't answer that."
Connor continues driving very fast through the forest.
The Baby seems to be trapped under a foosball table. Outside, the mother comes back; Sarah yells warnings. The mother collapses parts of the tent, sending Abby landing on top of Stag night Guy.
Outside, Sarah attempts to Rhino Whisperer the mother, while Abby and Stag night Guy break the Baby free. It gallops out to its mother.
Sarah is very amused by Stag Night Guy.
The bull is still chasing Connor.
Becker gives Stag Night Guy a blanket. The blanket has the ARC symbol on it. They're getting as bad as Torchwood. Abby gives him back the bra. We are all amused. Why didn't he just say no, it isn't his? It's not like Abby could prove anything.
While they ponder how to get the Rhino Things back to the Anomaly, Abby sees a JCB. She uses it either to herd or bait the Rhino Things, I can't quite tell which.
Danny and Woman arrive as this is going on.
"We're wasting time!"
"This is important. Stay there."
"Quinn, who is she?"
"Long story."
Woman has the magic ability to have her seat belt on in one shot and off half a second later...
Also, from a continuity point of view, I love how Danny still has scars from the Predator last ep.
Connor is still getting chased by the bull. That is a single minded animal.
The Anomaly starts to fluctuate and Danny starts herding them faster, but it closes before they all get through. Abby rings Connor to tell him to get back with the bull, then changes her mind, but it's too late.
"You've got to get the bull through the Anomaly - now!"
"I'm driving as fast as I can!"
"Oh, no. Keep the bull away!"
"What? Too late!"
The bull speeds the animals into a rampage.
Becker has not cleared the campsite, and now it's in the line of rampage. The team outstrip the Rhino Things and try to get them to change direction.
They can't do it, but Woman produces the computer thing and demands to be brought to the campsite. Out of ideas, Danny speeds up to get her there.
Various people in the campsite have no idea what's going on.
The team pull up and start them moving. The Rhinos show up across the field.
Woman uses her computer to open an Anomaly right in their path. They all gallop through.
"How did you do that?"
"The technology is simple enough."
"Really? Try me."
"Another time."
She's desperate to see Lester and Danny agrees to take her, but he passes her book off to Sarah and takes Abby with him. As she goes to the car Woman snatches a soldier's sidearm. Bad form on the soldier's part.
Christine shows up at the ARC demanding Danny. She has a warrant. Somehow it's for Danny and the Artefact at the same time.
"Make sure you read all the way through. I wouldn't want you to miss the part which requires the immediate surrender of the Artefact to me."
How do you even gets a warrant for something when you don't know what it is? Is there just a description of it?
Lester pleads ignorance.
Connor watches Sarah read through the notebook. It's not making much sense, but 333 is repeated all over the place.
Danny and the others arrive and Danny is sent to Lester's. He leaves Abby with Woman, who wonders around looking at things. Her face glitches for a moment but Abby brushes it off.
Danny is pleading ignorance to Christine - and very casually blocking her view out the window. There's a lot of posturing.
"Where is she?"
"Who?"
"I suggest you co operate, Quinn. Or I'll personally see to it that you spend a very long time in jail."
"You're really going to have to work on your small talk."
...
"I assume we're talking about a certain mystery woman."
"Quinn knows exactly who I'm talking about."
"She's downstairs, isn't she?"
"Yeah."
"Nice work. Subtle."
Connor and the others are back. Sarah's found something important in the notebook. It's Claudia Brown's name. Connor twigs that only Helen could know that name and they race up to the Hub.
"There's only two people in the world apart from us who knew about Claudia Brown. One was Cutter and the other...come on!"
Abby is also realising that something is weird. Woman goes for the Artefact but Abby blocks her. Christine comes to gloat and is immediately grabbed; Woman sticks her stolen gun in her face.
Lester wanders in, completely unconcerned, and everyone watches as the illusion slips and Helen is revealed.
Connor reluctantly hands over the Artefact. Helen monologues a bit
"Just tell me how. How you could...kill your own husband."
"I had no choice. I loved him, Connor. But he was part of all this. Part of everything that goes wrong. This is the beginning of the chaos. It all starts here...I thought that killing Nick would be enough, but it wasn't. So now I have to finish it once and for all."
before taking Christine and leaving. Christine attempts to bargain, but it doesn't go very well. The others pelt into the garage as they leave, following on.
They end up at Christine's building. Christine attempts to talk her around but it doesn't work.
"We have the same goals. We can share all of this. We have the Artefact, control of the Anomalies. Think of the power."
"If you think this is about power, you're wrong."
"Then what is it about?"
"It's all about you. You started this. One ambitious little civil servant who ends the world."
None of Christine's soldiers try anything like shooting Helen in the back, although to be fair they're carrying rifles; they'd probably kill Christine, too.
Everyone runs around the building until they fetch up in front of Christine's Anomaly. Helen shoves her in, following just as the Anomaly dies. The team are left empty handed.
Seconds later the Anomaly spins back up and Christine collapses out, already half dead; the team attempt to hang onto her, but a Predator drags her back through and it closes again.
Danny points out that they know another way to get to the other side of the Anomaly and they power walk out of the building.
"The Anomaly at the race track. That leads to the same place."
"That's where we're going."
"What are we going to do?"
"Follow Helen wherever she goes. To the end of time if necessary."
