So v true. Hello writers and producers? The show could still go on even if Arthur knows. You've already screwed with the mythology enough that it would still be very different. Plz stop being stupid about this.
What killed me is when Gaius tells Merlin, "Oh, I know why he died - it was this medallion right here," because clearly *that was information Arthur didn't need to have and wouldn't have affected his opinion at all*! He doesn't need to be told that all magic is good, he needs to understand that magic is a tool like a sword (well, actually more versatile than a sword, but work with me - I think Arthur could grasp the sword metaphor) and this was a perfect opportunity for him to see one person using magic for good, and one using it for evil (I'll leave you to decide which is which given this was Uther's life we're talking about). But Gaius is all, "I need to keep all important information from Arthur for no apparent reason! Now that Morgana is gone I need someone new to torment."
YESSSSSS, OMG YESSSSSS. I love Gaius. But I want to shake him and yell at him. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to hide from Arthur the fact that "Hey, this medallion here reverses the effects of healing magic! I bet our ARCH NEMESIS had something to do with this."
This show. Sometimes it's so much like a shoujo anime high school romance that I can hardly stand it. (Read: Full of totally unnecessary misunderstandings to fabricate the illusion of conflict.)
I watched Fringe right after Merlin and Walter actually ASKED Olivia what was up with the letter in her bag and she told him. And then I felt better.
