Next week's Newsweek Magazine has a series entitled "The Way We Were: Art and Culture in the Bush Era."

The representative example they chose from music? American Idiot of course.

Very nice find! I loved what it had to say, especially about how they have changed over the years!

I thought it was a pretty spot-on analysis. It seem pretty clear to me that she's a big fan of the band and the album.

Green Day: I confess - I never heard of them and thought you were talking about something to do with global warming. (I am red-faced. Fortunately does not show in post.)
So, I went to YouTube and brought up American Idiot. (So you weren't misspelling 'Idol' after all.)

A. really. good. song.
And same for some other Green Day songs I listened to as long as I was checking out YouTube.
Learn something new every day.

HAHAHAHA, that's awesome...no worries!

The thing is every time I would see the abbreviation "AI" I would always think American Idiot, when of course, it was referring to American Idol.

Green Day will be coming out this spring with their first new CD since AI was released over four years ago, so you will see them mentioned in this LJ quite a bit in the near future. :-D

Hey Delfina! Nice to see you around again!! :-)

I don't think she meant to be insulting, but I can see how it sounds like damning with faint praise. I'm just happy they got the mention.
