EXTRACTS FROM A DRAFT OF THE PILOT SCRIPT: (2) Jane and Maura meet Dean

Dec 09, 2010 11:51

Here's another extract from a draft of the pilot script of Rizzoli & Isles dated August 20, 2009 (you can find a link to the first extract here).  Not the bed scene, but that'll be next!

One thing in general that's different in this draft of the pilot is the extent to which Jane and Maura are initially "fighting" over Dean. I know in the aired ( Read more... )

This is interesting. Dean appears definitely interested in Maura, and Jane still comes off jealous over that in this draft, lol. Also, no nose fix in this version.

What I loved about the aired episode is that the whole exchange over Dean is totally about Jane and Maura and not really about Dean at all. :)

Thanks for sharing these!

Yeah, we can certainly read Jane's jealousy more than one way!

Oh, and the nose fix is in the first scene that introduces Maura, which I have up at http://reversatility.livejournal.com/2654.html

Yeah, Agent Dean isn't all that stunning to behold and I'd say he's a bit beyond 35, but I think we're supposed to think both Jane and Maura are younger than AH and SA. But then Donny Wahlberg is outright fugly if you ask me, so no wonder Jane wasn't jumping to hit that. Just proves women are held to a higher (sometimes ridiculous) standard of beauty. I am so happy that neither AH nor SA have botoxed their foreheads into paralysis.

I think of "GQ-handsome" as fitting Garrett Fairfield better, but perhaps the producers thought a seasoned FBI agent should look a little more rugged. I actually preferred Jane's interactions with Grant rather than Dean; their friction was a little more interesting.

In script description for the introduction to Jane, it says she's 30; for Maura, that she's in her late 30s.

OK, so we're supposed to think Jane is (quite a bit) younger than AH, and evidently that Maura is a bit older than SA. They both have some pretty good genetics going for them and Harmon especially seems to have hit the jackpot for not wrinkling. The rest of us will just have to stay out of the sun.

Yep! Fyi, the Jane's introduction (for the basketball scene) is as follows:

"DETECTIVE JANE RIZZOLI, 30, plays ball with her brother, FRANKIE JR., 28, a Boston P.D. patrol officer. ... She wears nice sweat pants and a tank top that reads: Scare Yourself Every Day. Jane's face is arresting: a quirky beauty that evolved over time. She's a high-strung Yankee, yet she moves with an athletic grace."

You're welcome, and yes, it's fun to compare the differences between the script and the episode. More to come soon, hopefully this weekend.

Oh my, "GQ-handsome and completely unaware of how hot he is"... I'm gonna quote AH's 50% of sentences: "Really?? I mean, REALLY???" I would cross that prefix 'un-' off from "unaware", because he is TOTALLY aware of how (supposedly) hot he is. Hey, Bella's dad, didn't do good work in hiding your 'awareness'...

And yeah, I LOVE the way the actresses decided to focus all this Dean topic on themselves and their relationship rather than on their relationship with Dean (as the script seemingly suggested). Sasha, Angie, you rock!

Thanks again! Eagerly waiting for the next installment! =)

Well, I'm guessing what Tamaro was going for was Dean not preening overtly. He seems contrasted in the script with Detective Crowe, who is described thus just as Maura enters the first murder scene:

"Crowe casually applies chapstick and smooths his Ken-doll hair then turns back to Kitty [the reporter]."

Did he actually do that in the episode? I don't remember.

As for Jane and Maura, yep, we'll see that Dean really ends up bringing them closer :-).
