I like this a lot. Your characters are dead-on and you include very funny comments (this: "Jane slipped out of her down parka, a puffy blue monstrosity that had seen too many winters and not enough cleanings" killed me!). I also like the way Maura is dissecting her feelings or, let's say, the evolution of her feelings for Jane.
