does he sound come out of the weird electrode thing or just the keyboard. also what happens if you touch it while the electricity is coming out?

The discharge actually generates the tones. This guy invented the process, and you can find other videos on Youtube of giant tesla coils making music controlled by MIDI. Some play the mario music and such.

It would hurt to touch, but it would not kill you, as you can walk up to it with a lightbulb and it will light wirelessly.

Tesla is one of my favorite guys.
