I was beginning to wonder, though, why you were writing about Kairi and co when Kopii-Riku was who you'd originally started writing this story for. However, I see the link now ^_^

He's definitely a great guy. He has his flaws, sure -- I mean, there had to be some reason why Kairi was willing to ditch everything and leave home to go to some world that she just barely remembered. And what kind of dad lets his fifteen-year-old daughter go out into the worlds alone, with two boys, for an indefinite amount of time? Also, as mayor, he's probably busy most of the day (even though I fail at illustrating that in this part of the story -- that's what flashbacks and indirect characterization are for, y/y?)
