Dreamwidth

It's interesting to me that Livejournal seems to be somewhat dying off (well, it's not as active as it once was, at least) and yet people on Teh Interwebs are obsessing over a new Livejournal clone called Dreamwidth. It seems better than LJ in one regard because it's all open source and welcoming and not very commercial, but on the other hand, I ( Read more... )

It seems that way to me, too. Which is sad - I much prefer journaling to how other social networking sites work, and I love having that bit of insight to people's minds and thoughts. But alas, I don't ever blog anymore, as I feel my life isn't really interesting, and I have a feeling that's the case with most folks.

But I will still stalk and haunt until my friends page is totally dead. 'Cause. I do love LJ.

And really dislike Twitter. >.>

Aww. And the code or pay thing makes me think of the middle of the early days of LJ - they did that, too. Aw.

Yeah, I remember when this site was invite-only too! I got this journal on an invite code. It's smart, because it makes people want to become users, and it probably makes them more active once they get an account.

I actually thought of you when I saw all this Dreamwidth stuff because their business model seems more agreeable than Livejournal's.

I miss you, by the way! My friends page hasn't been the same since you left. :(

It did, back in the day!

I miss updates from everyone. I know it's hypocritical for me to say that since I don't update much myself, but I enjoyed it when everyone was active!

I don't think the LJ way of doing things is dying. ... at least, not in my fandoms. :P

I created a Dreamwidth (I don't have invite codes yet, but if/when I do, I'll be happy to pass one along), but I'm just using it as a placeholder in case LJ goes bottom up.

LJ has pulled a lot of bullshit over the past few years, but I still feel like I've set up shop here, you know? I don't feel the need to go anywhere quite yet.

I think some pockets of LJ are still okay. Some communities I subscribe to are still fairly active. But I notice that personal journalling has taken a huge decline! Or at least it has in the circles I frequent.

After I posted this I ended up creating a Dreamwidth account too, partially out of curiosity, partially just in case LJ disappears one day.

My personal journalling has declined because of school. ;P
