The Good!

Yeah, I think someone must have said that phrase, “May you live in interesting times,” to me concerning the past couple of days.  It’s been kind of a roller coaster, of sorts, so I think this is going to be a multi-post entry.  ;)  Nothing really bad has happened, mind you, but just some rather interesting events happening.

4.5 miles, with your climate it is good for biking. I will soon have 100 minutes to work and I find that is to much.

Oh yeah, the first 4.5 miles are good for biking. Unfortunately, I've got another 50 miles or so to get to work after dropping off scorpionrose, on very high traffic roads. My average commute is about 90-120 minutes, depending upon traffic. And it is definitely way too much. Bleh...

With car it would take me approximately 70 minute to work, 100 minutes with nus as I cannot afford a car and drive every day.

And you commute to long, but I hope the pay is worth it.

The pay's not really worth it, IMHO, which is why I'm kind of looking around right now. I'd really like to find something close by, if possible. Guess we'll see what happens. *shrugs*

I do the Hagerstown - Dupont Circle run every day so I feel yer pain there. Next week should be pure hell. I dream of what it must be like to leave for work when the sun is shining.

Errgh, Hagerstown to DuPont Circle? Any of that metro? I'm only going from just above Frederick to Fairfax, and I think it's awful.

I'm insane - I drive the whole way. After years of doing the bus or train + metro I found its just faster to drive myself. I'm blessed to have free parking in my office building and driving gives me the flexibility I need as a single mom. One time I added it all up and discovered I spend 1 month a year commuting. How freaking depressing is that?

At least when I hit the Spur the traffic is usually heavier going southbound ... you poor thing, sitting in that mess.

Ouch, a month a year commuting?!?! *calculates* Ummm, yeah, even accounting for vacation days and federal holidays, I spend 28.75 whole days in the car each year, going to and from work. Now I'm depressed, too!

As far as the Spur is concerned, once you get past it and onto 495, it usually picks up considerably. So, I suppose it could be worse. Meh...
