Well, it had better be. After all, it will have to get Marvel back on my good side after the disaster that was Spider-Man 3.

The Comic-con footage looked promising (check youtube for it). Robert Downey is perfect to play Tony Stark...he's got personal experience playing a drunken asshole. ;)

Yeah...wasn't so impressed with Spiderman 3. Given some of the other things that have come out of Sony Imageworks, I was a little surprised and disappointed by some of the sloppy CG work that was in it. But Beowulf should redeem them. Sony's publicity dept, on the other hand, needs a good clocking because they just plain suck. They do shit in pushing some films that could really do well such as Surf's Up or Monster House. And if only they had put a Beowulf trailer in front of 300...

I'll say! I never even heard of the Beowulf movie before today. O.o

The CGI in Spider-Man 3 was teh suckage. Which really stings because Venom is the one great comic villain that just screams to be done in CGI.

What do you think about Watchmen being turned into a movie?

And there's 30 Days of Night and I Am Legend. I'm a bit annoyed about I Am Legend mainly because the movie is really nothing like the original story. But it looks like it'll be a decent zombie-vampire-whatever Will Smith movie if you don't compare it to the book it was "inspired by".

The Watchmen movie is a default loss. Watchmen is way too complex to fit into 2 hours without sacrificing too much of the characters. Imagine reading the graphic novel without all the flashback sequences, without Rorschach's genesis story, without the Tales of the Black Freighter... I think the only way to do it justice would be as a 12 part miniseries.

I'm only half way thru the novel but yes, so far it's pretty heavy.

Given that movies have reached the 3 hrs mark before, they could make it a long one. Zack Snyder is directing and he stayed true to the graphic novel for 300 so I have hopes he does well bringing Watchmen to the screen. Sony is doing some of the cg. Mo-cap is currently underway. I hope they do a better job than Spiderman 3.

Even 3 hours wouldn't be enough I think - unless you cut out all the characters' background stories, but then all that's be left would be standard superhero fare with a moral twist at the end.

I remember saying the same thing about the trailer to The Phantom Menace, Jodo.

As for the suit - the first version of it we see reminded me of the Black Knight from Monty Python's Holy Grail. A flesh wound, indeed.
