Slack!

Amazing how sudden changes in my routine can bring sudden changes to my perception of reality and personal motivations. I'm suddenly extremely disinterested in politics, which for me means I have a lot more interest in my own personal business at the moment than I do in monitoring the state. All that shit about the evacuation of the white house ( Read more... )

introspection, slack

I was really sick of politics by the end of the election, and of course completely let down, pissed off and hopeless. I pretty much gave up and regularly delete my MoveOn and other liberal-y emails. I picked one topic that means a lot to me, access to abortion and birth control, and chose to focus on that instead of trying to stay on top of the daily headlines like you said. It's a lot easier that way.
The MoveOn/True Majority delete habit has also been inspired by
this
And the fact that I am just about as fed up with "liberals" as I am with conservatives. Ugh. Yeah. Politics is annoying sometimes, it's good to take a break.

Oh, and maybe you can help me here or point me in the right direction - I need a warehouse type venue to throw a punk/ska show so I can bring out Los Kung Fu Monkeys and have free beer (thus the not looking at a bar where I would have to pay a huge bar tab to have free beer, I'm thinking $8 at the door and bring in a few kegs.)
Yeah. That would rock.
Thanks.

Okay, I may have found one possible venue for you, unfortunately not a warehouse-type ...but Los Kung Fu Monkeys might be able to win some money;
My friend Chris DeFabio runs No Rulez Presents in Denver. He called me up the other night to see if I knew any bands that would like to play in a battle of the bands he plans for Sat, June 11 at the Ogden theater .
Prizes will include $500 cash, 2 full days studio time,and a grand prize of $3000. His number is 303-669-0710 if you want to contact him yourself or let the monkeys do it...I can do it if you need.
please let me know what you think, I can still look elsewhere.

I'm kinda glad that you've become disinterested in politics. I've been getting my daily dose of frustration from you..

About 2003 I just got to information overload. The state of the world combined with the state of my life at the time was just too much, much too much too much too much too much...

I just stopped paying attention. No newspapers, stopped watching television altogether. It made me feel better. Its only recently I've been able to get angry again without getting.. you know, stabby.

Anyway, good to hear you're in a chrysalis stage. This seems like a time for new beginnings, or at least the building of new things upon solid foundations. Good luck to you.

amen man. there's too much weird, fun shit going down to focus on the sycophants. however, it can be funny shit though. did you hear about the OB-GYN who was anally raping his narcoleptic wife? oh, yeah, he also refuses to prescribe birth control. or the other right-wing anti-choice fundamentalist who confessed that growing up on a farm in Georgia, his first girlfriend was...a HORSE?
