Причудливым образом две новости пересекаются: смерть Чавеса и выбор папы:

"We know that our commander ascended to the heights and is face to face with Christ," Maduro said at the inauguration of a book fair.
Something influenced the choice of a South American pope, someone new arrived at Christ's side and said to him: 'Well, it seems to us South America's time has come."
said Nicolas Maduro, who was named by Chávez himself, in one of his last televised address to the nation last December, as his preferred successor "if and when the time came".

Осталось только понять, как это сочетается с революцией, и дело в шляпе, точнее в берете Че Гевары :)

А вот я тоже призадумалась, как социализм и революция сочетаются с католической верой в Венесуэле.
И вот, что нашла в вики: "Even though Chavez identified himself as a practicing Catholic who often used religious imagery in his marathon broadcasts and has visited the Pope, his policies bothered the bishops of the country, especially in the area of education".

According to the CIA Factbook, 2009, 96% of the population [in Venezuela] is Catholic. [1]There are 34 dioceses including 8 archdioceses, plus separate jurisdictions for those of the Melkite and Syrian rites.

Так что, как видим, все сплелось in a hazy mix in Venezuela.

Однако, Чавес одной рукой держал Библию, а другой - Капитал :)
