So there wasn’t much response to the Writer 101 series - so that’s something I’ll hold off on. But as I seem to get responses from some of my recent rants - here we go. It helps that it is related to writing - and it’s a point in favor “Wheaton’s Law”.

If she really lives by those ten questions, her life must be really narrow and she must be an OCD workaholic. I met this woman my last year as a graduate student who didn't live with her husband because she believed doing so better allowed her to more effectively focus on her work as a graduate student. I guess you can live your life like this but it's not much of a life.

Ha! Yeah, her definition of what constitutes a professional is pretty extreme. I'm a human being who happens to write, thank you very much. I'm not this one-dimensional being. I read this interview with Kerry King of Slayer who talked about guitarists who do nothing but practice scales 24/7. He related how after recording a new album and doing a tour, he would spend some time doing stuff that had nothing to do with the guitar or music. When he went back to it, he did so with a renewed interest. I spend a lot of time reading and writing but if there wasn't other stuff in my life, I would grow bored with the writer aspect of it.
