I've had the distinct pleasure of reading Do Not Sell at Any Price: The Wild, Obsessive Hunt for the World's Rarest 78prm Records recently, as well as Kate Leth's short but very good Ink for Beginners: A Comic Guide to Getting Tattooed. Both of those books sound really cool - I bet I'd get a real kick out of the record collecting one. (I also rather grateful that my obsession with music doesn't actually extend to LP or CD collecting per se - housing and backing up my digital collection is enough of a pain as it is.)

On the other hand, my band T-shirt collection is threatening to get out of hand. But I do love them and they do wear out eventually, so theoretically it's a self-limiting problem.

The book is going to my Mom next, but if you want, I'll be happy to send it to you afterwards!

I learned so much about blues/folk music and the marketing (or lack thereof.) It's really amazing to me that a lot of people,had 78s but just threw them places, under porches and into corners, so a lot of them are lost and/or in terrible condition. So modern collectors are working against time and a finite supply. Just bonkers.
