Gravity: Yes, the soundtrack is overbearing, but WOW this is a movie about a woman, and it is often tense and frightening, and I was impressed at how often the filmmakers made the audience sympathize with a female character--heavens! Gravity was SUCH AN INTENSE ride. Enjoyed it all the way through and I'm so happy to have seen it in 3D which I normally avoid.

I see what that guy is saying, but the countless point-of-view shots force the audience to put themselves in Bullock's place, and her persistence in the face of tremendous odds flips the balance from problematic to strong for me. (Although I do *wish* there could have been one more line explaining what the eff she was doing out there! It would have squared a lot of weirdness away for me.) Ryan's gut instinct to reach for the manuals also endeared her to me significantly. :)
