What appalls me is the number of people who are defending his "jokes". No, they're not satire. No, people shouldn't just "lighten up." Some of the comments he made were hugely, enormously sexist and offensive (and racist) and they're just not okay.

Yeah, I'm hearing a lot of that talk, too. It's disheartening that there can't be any kind of dialogue around the problematic ideas in his work. :(

So many people are in such deep denial that those issues (misogyny, racism, etc.) exist.
