Teacher-friends or anyone who knows: Is there a written policy concerning students visiting a teacher's home? Where would I even look for policy regarding teacher/paraeducator conduct?
It is pretty heavily frowned upon-especially if it is a one-on-one situation. The things teachers get sued for (or the rumors that are enough to shatter any teacher's career) are ridiculous. I don't think that I've ever seen an official policy, but I would not be surprised if some districts have them.
In the case of he-said she-said, teachers don't win. I watched an incredible teacher get sacked due to false accusations and even though he was never officially charged, he was quietly let go from the district and never highered back again. I'm fairly paranoid, but I like what I do and I'd rather not lose it due to a teenager who decided they didn't like me (yay, crucible!)
