Is anyone else as amused as I am that our local theater is re-releasing The Passion of the Christ Re-cut? The name itself, "re-cut," is amusing enough. But it's a bit ridiculous that they've cut 5 minutes of violent scenes so that wholesome Christians can go see it without getting sick. The poor dears, believing in all that brutalization but being ( Read more... )

i find it funny cause its just a capitalistic ploy to make more money. take the same idea and use them over again for a cheap way to make something for people to want to go see again. the same ploy that sequels use. until you said what it intitled i thought it was funny as hell. But i dont think only the christians dont like Gore! I personally hate gore and personally dont want to see any movie in it no matter who is in it (aka house on haunted hill, Thirteen ghosts) i frankly have become utterly insulted by your "poor christians cant handle it" things. They arent the only ones that went to see the movie. that was rude. Simply Rude.

Did you know mass audiences were too squimish to see the Exorcism? People were throwing up in the aisles and running out during that movie

rude and mean

Are you joking? Because sarcasm is hard to determine on the internet. Are you pissed because you can't handle gore and you thought I said only Christians can't handle gore? I didn't say that. I don't care if people can't handle gore.

My point was the fact that Christians believe that Christ was crucified for their sins. It is the basis of their belief. But as soon as someone says, "Hey, look, this is what you believe. A man was brutally punished, beaten, killed in a wash of blood, and spit, and vomit, hung up on a cross, pierced in the side with a spear." They go "EW! OMG, that's like so disgusting, ew ew ew!"

I'm saying that if you believe in something you should be strong enough to face up to that fact. Turning away from it is not owning up to the fact that yes, this is what the sins of Man deserve. This is what Christ did for you. Deal with it. Be moved by it. Watch it and lead a better life because that's why Jesus died.

*chortles into his milk* Hee hee, Christ Re-Cut. I wonder if they're going to go all Disney and re-release every 10 years or whatever that cycle is. "Christ ReMastered". "Christ: Special Edition". I'll go see "Christ:Director's Cut" for sure. Twice the disfigurement, and this time Brad Pitt is one of the disciples.

Fuck all the squeams, Christian or otherwise, but especially the Christians. When you say "Christ died for my sins", it wasn't quietly in the night. It wasn't a "Hey, barkeep, put their sins on my tab." For those who don't know, crucificying a brother is one of the worst ways to go. You don't die of blood loss, you die of asphyxiation when your muscles aren't able to hold you up by the holes in your hands. Its horrible, its bloody, and if you can't handle it maybe you should turn Buddhist. He lived 75 years and died because he wanted to.

And after all that's done, George Lucas is going to come and make the prequels.

"Jesus....I am your father." -God

Holes in wrists! holes in wrists! you cannot be crucified by holes in your hands. It does not work because your body weight it such that the tendons will simply give way. They have found bodies of people who have been crucified and it's through the wrists.

And I would totally go see the "Christ: Director's Cut" with you! :D

The relationship between Christians and the Bible is just generally weird.

It's ostensibly either the word of G_d or as close to it as we can come, but they allow translator and popularizers to stand between them and that word! And they want those translators and popularizers to bowlderize the thing for them! They should jsut give the d_mn'd thing to Disney, explaining that they want something like The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
