Another old friend gone...

I don't know if any of you have known of, or ever had the pleasure of visiting, a coffee shop in Camden High Street, North London called The Bean and Cup. A little gem of a place, which absolutely craps all over Starbuck's and its likes.

Much as I do love Starbucks, I'm so so with you on this one. This world, it seems wont stop until everything is owned by just one person/boardroom.

RIP small businesses.

Let's just hope Gays The Word in Bloomsbury doesnt close; now that is a lovely lovely bookshop.

I didn't know the Bean and Cup, but I know exactly what you're saying.

It really p***es me off when small, individualistic set-ups like this are forced out of business by the big boys. Walk down the High Street of practically any town in the UK and the shops are all exactly the same - you could be anywhere. It's a very sore point with me, I'm afraid.

Sorry you've lost a favourite place, sunshine. Let's hope you find somewhere just as nice soon. {{hugs}}

I googled Bean n Cup's closure and came across your post on the matter. I don't go to Camden too often, but I've been visiting the B'n'C for over seven years, and even if my visits were three months apart they would remember my order. When I was 17, I'd go there and revise because it was the only place I could relax. I was in Camden this afternoon, shopping, and thought I'd stop by for a coffee, as I always do. I cannot tell you how much my heart sank when I saw the 'TO LET' sign. I just don't understand why, it always seemed so busy. Agh :(
