Periodically, as I sit at my computer desk in the dining room, I hear a loud

THWACK Pahdum Pahdum Pahdum Pahdum Pahdum ....ThudIt often startles me, but it doesn't particularly bother me, as I know exactly what is going on

"Our" squirrels like to bury the walnuts in the garden as a gift to us in ... appreciation?

These walnuts land on a neighbor's tin roof and sound like gunshots sometimes. I knew it was a lot of work to actually harvest the, and after reading what you wrote, but I understand at some time in its life, it may have produced food for the hungry.

I remember the THWACK Pahdum Pahdum Pahdum Pahdum Pahdum ....Thud with fond memories. We use to have three walnut trees in the back yard. :)
I don't like walnuts well enough to go to all that work. Well, I don't like them enough to even pick up the walnuts. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love to watch the squirrels with walnuts! Growing up we had a large walnut tree next to our drive way and the squirrels had do much fun with the nuts. We, however, would harvest the nuts, blah! Luckily, my parents got smart, and we put the nuts in the drive way and the cars would help to get the husk off, so all that was left for us to do was crack the hard shell and harvest he meat inside.
