Our True North Strong and Free

A certain columnist in the Toronto Star (who happens to, oh, be quite close to me) has this to say about the election that leaves America deeply divided, and what the Bush Brainless Idiot Years have meant to Canada:

I have said that 9/11 made Canada more Canadian. More precisely, it was Bush who did so ( Read more... )

Waaaaaait!!! Haroon Siddiqui is your brej? This just proves that I am PSYKIK! (In May, my parents, cousin and I went to this lecture and I remember thinking "I wonder if that guy knows Yizzle" but then I was like "nahhhh, probably not." But yeah, I'm totally psykik. *nods*)

Anyway, um...*proud Canadian gang sinez*

Or ask me. I can be bought. :-P

I'm angry and profoundly sad and longing for that little piece of paper that said I had a legal right to live in Canada (uh, for awhile). It's been like the kick in the teeth that makes you realize, yeah, you really do live in a country where most people think their own religious paranoia is more important than other people's rights.

Back off, won't you? Just let the sinners sin. No need to legislate their compliance-- at least if you let them live in their evil ways you won't have to share the bright light of the afterlife with them. Once and for all-- YOUR religion has no place in MY law.

Yes I mean to mention to you that I thought it was a really good column. I have my differences with him, but this one was truly on the money.

All the crazy liberals leaving the U.S.? Such an idea seems too good to be true, and therefore probably is. Alas. *dramatik sigh* ;)

You are right. Unfortunately for us "crazy liberals", it probably is largely a myth. If I can't get a job, I'll just have to stay here and continue persuading people (and I think if I can persuade my mother, I'm off to a good start :-D) that, alas, a government that advocates ( ... )

'Cause if there's one thing I've learned about "conservatives" in this country, it's... they don't actually believe in rights, except for their right to impose their idea of how you should live your life upon you, so you better appeal to their checking accounts.

I love you deeply. But not in a gay way, because if I loved you in that way, your government might stone me or something. You know, if they don't get me for being a Wrong-God-Worshipping Possibly Terrorist As-Good-As-Heathen first. *nods*

Aw, sweetie, I  you, too. Uh, but not in that way. Although, we can get married in Ontario and then I could have a Canadian passport. Quickie divorce, though. :-D

I figure that since I'm stuck for the time being I may as well "speak truth to power" (as Teresa Heinz Kerry said at the Dem. Convention). I keep waiting for power to speak truth back, but they seem very reluctant. Shock and surprise.
