Good News and Bad News

Oct 23, 2004 00:54

So, I just got home after chaperoning the Grade 8 dance at school. The bad part of this was that I have now been awake for 19 hours, 12 of which were spent fasting, and 14 of which were spent at work. Gaaaah. The good part of it was that junior high dances are so cute. I love my Grade 8s, for the most part, and dances are extra-cute in uniformed ( Read more... )

Randomly? reading your entries about teaching makes me so excited to one day be a teacher myself. ( Yet, the more essays I write and the closer I get to my degree, the stupider I seem to be getting. Most of this isn't even grammatical.)

Those are cute shoes, and I don't yet have ballet flats. I need some.

Good luck with the adaptation - I'd love to read it once it's finished! I've yet to read the book but I've heard wonderful things about it. I'm sure your girls will love it!

Being a teacher is definitely something to get excited about. :D Slog through all that crap and you'll come out relatively unscathed in the end.

You don't have ballet flats?? Oh, you must get some! I have... *counts on fingers*... six pairs? Seven, if I include the ones I just bought, I think. Ballet flats rock my world, because even though I spend more than half my teaching time in socks (no shoes on the drama studio carpet!), one should never attempt to teach a full day while wearing anything other than flats.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is wonderful and I'd highly recommend reading it if you tend to like YA fiction. I'm a total sucker for well-written YA stuff, so it was right up my alley, especially considering I teach all girls. It's gonna be slightly difficult to stage, the way I'm writing it, but I think it'll work. I've told the girls I'm thinking of it as our spring play (I don't want to say anything for sure until it's certain), and they're already very excited about it. Yay!

Oh lord, I hope so. Because if I have to write one more critical journal on moral-cognitive education or contrast in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I'm going to kill myself.

I hardly own anything flat. Save for my Adidas runners (Kalan's shoes except in blue and white) and my pink Converse. I'm 5'3" so I've got to make up for that somehow... strange, though. Despite the fact that I was never a ballet dancer, I have some strange enthusiasm for it. I own ballet pants, pink warm-up shoes and ballet wrap sweaters.

You know, I have a passion for YA fiction. I guess that's leftover from my bookish teen years...okay, I guess that's not leftover at all. I'm just a book nerd.

I can't imagine teaching at an all-girls school. Somehow, it seems like I've always gotten along best with the boys that I teach.

Don't worry! I know so! Moral cognitive education and all that stuff is useless crap. I'm telling you. You won't remember a word of it once you actually start teaching. You won't have time to remember it!

Pink Converse! Heeee, I <3 my pink Converse. And yeah, it makes sense that you don't have a lot of flats if you're short, but believe me, once you start teaching full-time, you'll start wearing more flat shoes. I'm tall, so I've always worn lots of flats, anyhow, which is why I was thrilled when ballet shoes came back into style and were all over the stores ( ... )

After KVDP was, like, the third highest LP at Skate Canada last year by landing three double axels, I have decided that nothing is too strange for skating.

My outfit's ridiculous,
In the club lookin' so conspicuous.....

Take that and rewind it back, Lil' Jon got the rhythm make yo booty go---
Take that and rewind it back, Urrrsher got the voice make yo booty go---
Take that and rewind it back, Ludacris got the flow make yo booty go---
Take that and rewind it back, Lil' Jon got the rhythm make yo booty go---

And I knew all of that off the top of my head. I hope you're proud of me. :D

Guy, you'd never heard Fitty's Wanksta before?! WHAT?

How you like me now
When my pinky's worth more than three hundred thousand?

(Or is it valued over three hundred thousand? Whichever. Hee!)

*snikkerz*

I am muchly proud of you, brej. *bloody thumbs up!*

No, I hadn't! I'd only read the lyrics, never actually heard it. I don't listen to the radio or anything and my ghetto brother never enlightened me by making me listen to this one.

Ohmigod. Do I have to learn this song now?

Bad taste is relative. Relative, relative, relative. When you see "Bach to Africa" next weekend (snikker), Tanith's Navka dress will go flyyyyyying out of your head!

I'm so amused by the Skate America results thus far that I've decided to take up the offer of a free ticket and go up tomorrow. If Alissa Czisny medals, look for me on TV. I'll be the one who laughed so hard she fell over the boards onto the ice.

I miss all my kiddies that I used to teach at the rink. Now most of them are in university and are too adult for my tastes (when did they get so friggin' independent??) Sadness. But at least they're fun to talk to. :-)

Yes. Yes, you certainly do. There will be a test at the end of the week. *snikkerz*

Bad taste may be relative, guy, but this is Tanith and Ben we're talking about here, meaning I ACTUALLY CARE. Gah.

BWAAAAAH, you're going to SA? I am amused.
