where do user names come from?

The past couple of days I've gmailed with a couple of LJ friends for the first time and in doing so found out their sekrit identities. And it got me to wondering -- how did they end up choosing their user names? So I ask you all to share that piece of information.

For me, resk originally came from a song I wrote about 10 years ago called "Resk Stands," about a gullible sap who ends up compromising his own health because he believes too much of what he reads. What's worse, he knows that he's being gullible but he can't stop.

I don't actually identify with the Resk in the song, but I thought it was a cool name, so I invented a last name to go along with it. Something with assonance, cuz I'm a big fan of assonance. So the full name of my alter ego has become Resk Le Teveque (pronounced "luh TEH vek"), which not only sounds cool to me, it also looks cool.

So that's the origin of my username in a nutshell. How about you?

P.S. By doing random image searches on the web, I've also found that Resk is a popular graffiti word. I don't know why that is or what it means to graffiti artists, but that's where I found this icon.
