= RIVAL THEME =
Before you start please make sure that you've read the rules and voted on all unstamped applications available. Thank you.
It's a bitch convincing people to like you
Name? Mouette
Age? 22
Gender? female
Likely age of your rival? No preference, but I can't really imagine a scenario in which a (significantly) younger person would irk me that much whereas I can think of quite a few for people older than me.
Likely gender of your rival? Oh please. I can hate both genders equally. ♥
So you've decided to get yourself a mortal enemy of your own. Splendid! Perhaps you could start by naming three of your own traits which may cause you to lose sympathy points with others or could even be cause for a serious argument?
# I'm self-centred, self-involved and just about the whole deal that makes it perfectly apparent that when it comes down to it me and my interests are more important to me than anything you could ever come up with.
# I'm blunt, which can be anything from straightforward to crude and make me difficult and awkward at best and a nuisance to be around if you're the type hoping to keep quiet about certain things. In addition to that
# I'm bullheaded and wilful about the few strong opinions and principles I have and throw away any sense of reason, tact or self-preservation when it comes to defending those. In other words, you can be a hulking mass of muscle who signs my paychecks on top of it, but I will still call you a moron if I think you're wrong.
I see. That sounds unpleasant. Well, now name three traits you dislike or disapprove of in other people, strongly enough to possibly get you to start an argument or even a fight.
# Disrespect. Specifically I strongly believe that (while you may lose respect for somebody when getting to know them) living beings should be respected without any sort of prerequisite and people automatically looking down on others because of their age, gender, ethnicity, job or position disgust me beyond belief.
# Dishonesty, on a more personal note. If people lie to each other I'll leave them to their game, but dishonesty and flattery towards me will not be tolerated and lose you so many sympathy points, it's not even funny.
# Active dislike of people, things or ideas I care about. There's a huge difference between "I don't like X. Moving on." and "I don't like X, nor should anybody else with half a brain." and chances are I won't be much fun if I notice you doing the latter and let's not even go to the point of insulting or hurting things/people/ideas I care about when I'm around.
How likely are you to engage in verbal confrontation anyway? I don't jump on just any opportunity to instigate a confrontation, because I like to make the times I speak up count, however I won't back out if you're the one bringing the confrontation to me.
And what about physical confrontation? Defending myself if I have to is all you'll get from me, because those fights are best avoided altogether. They don't prove anything to me, so beat me into a bloody pulp for all I care, I'll still laugh at you with my last breath and have 'LOL, X SUCKS!' engraved on my tombstone.
And now you've made me angry
Please tell us if you agree or disagree with the following quotes and why that is.
Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much. I can definitely see that working with some people, but it's not something I'd ever try, because I simply don't forgive anything, ever.
Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names. I don't forgive anything, ever. Also I am bad with remembering names.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I wouldn't say friend, but the enemy of my enemy definitely gets bonus points for the time being.
Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake. Correct.
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. I understand the idea behind it, but I don't even want my friends close, let alone my enemies.
Grey area? There is no such thing in the Resident Evil universe! You will pick a side and you will pick it NOW!
[] GOOD! *poses heroically*
[x] EVIL! *laughs maniacally*
Care to elaborate? Everything I do is based on me being an agreeable person as long as you leave me the fuck alone. Forcing me to do anything never comes with good results and forcing me to pick sides will bite you back especially hard. "I'm just a loner, baby and now you've gotten in my way..."
Clearly being a civilian isn't an option either, so how are you going to fight for whichever side you are on? Pick [x] three professions you're interested in. Additionally, please mark [o] the one profession you're least drawn to.
[x] Cultist
[o] Government agent
[] Journalist
[x] Mercenary
[] Police officer
[] Politician
[x] Researcher
[] Spy
It's all about the goal! Pick [x] three goals which appeal to you. Additionally, please mark [o] the one goal you can't see yourself pursuing at all.
[x] Acquiring large amounts of money
[] Completing whichever mission was given to me
[\] Creating the perfect virus (*)
[/] Creating the cure for a deadly virus (*)
[] Getting revenge on somebody
[x] Saving myself
[] Saving the people I love
[o] Saving everyone
[] World Domination
[] World Destruction
(*) Creating anything interesting will do equally fine.
Alright, now that particular Resident Evil rival of yours, how did your relationship go down the drain anyway? Pick the most [x] and the least [o] likely scenario.
[] They destroyed my research
[] They stole my research
[] They hurt/killed somebody I cared about
[o] They hurt/killed innocent people
[] They got in the way of my mission
[] They foiled my evil plans
[x] They betrayed a cause I cared about (*)
(*) ...which for all I know may also involve destroying/stealing research, hurting/killing or getting in my way in some form or other.
Lock the doors and close the blinds
Tell me, is that rival of yours generally more likely to be somebody with similar goals and views who you're competing against OR somebody fighting for a different cause / goal you want to prevent (or vice versa)? I associate the word rival with people who have same/similar goals and while I'm hardly averse to competition I can see some major problems coming from having similar but not the exact same goals in a way where it crosses into the 'preventing different goals' territory and causes major strife. The latter is of course definitely an option as well, but I haven't had any experience with that so far.
And do you think you're more likely to develop such a negative relationship with somebody you already didn't care for in the first place, somebody you had no particular opinion of or somebody you liked, perhaps even cared for? I'm not sure. People I have no opinion of... well, it's entirely possibly that they suddenly do something awful, but my hatred usually takes time, so I suppose they'd have to switch to dislike first. I often blank out people I initially dislike and as such may not pay enough attention to them to develop something worse, whereas a negative experience with people I liked would hit at least twice as hard, come completely unprepared and consequently prompt a stronger reaction.
There it is! The perfect chance to kill your rival! Problem is, this explosion, plunge to death or whatever stunt you're about to face will most certainly kill the both of you. Do you go for it or sit this one out? I'll pass, but thank you. See, the whole problem with my rival is that they make my life less enjoyable and while 'they die' seems a desirable solution to that I can't help but consider 'I die' a major flaw in the plan.
Okay, next idea. It comes to your attention that your rival is dead; natural cause, killed in an accident or at the hands of somebody else, it doesn't really matter. Point is, you were not involved whatsoever. How does that make you feel? I would of course - especially in the RE-verse - be wary of the permanence of their death, but overall I approve. I'm not obsessed with my rivals to a point where the rivalry becomes an essential part of my life which I'd miss, and while killing them myself may be a useful warning to potential future rivals I doubt I'd be too heartbroken about it, as long as they're gone.
Forget about the above, it's again all up to you to kill your rival. How are you going to accomplish that? I... quite liked the above scenario where I didn't have to lift a finger for it to happen, because clearly they are not worth the legal consequences I might have to face if my hand in their tragic accident was revealed.
I wont deny I'm gonna miss you when you're gone
I think shouldn't let you fight this battle alone. If you could have one Resident Evil character to support you, who would that be and why? Please keep in mind that they will have to agree with your cause and agree to fight whoever you think you're up against, so if you described yourself as a good police officer who wants to save the people you love, Wesker may not be the best choice for you, regardless of the power factor. Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into now? Obviously the goodies are out and I wouldn't trust the evil ones with my laundry, let alone my life. So can I just give Ashley a pair of pompons and let her cheer me on from the sidelines? I suppose the other option would be to commission HUNK with that tragic accident I mentioned and hope for the best.
Love is not the only thing missing in this application so far. Clearly we still need MUSIC! Let's say we just tuned in to your epic final battle with that pesky enemy of yours. One of you is going down for good! How will this fight sound like? (Link to a youtube video, download link or the lyrics of your battle song)
You would be surprised how well this song goes with violent bloodshed.EDIT(!!): OH GOD AND ALSO SO MUCH
THIS.
Speaking of love, did you see that piece of fan art of you and your rival in a compromising, quite NC-17, yet surprisingly friendly position? Your artist's life depends on one very important question: Who tops?
THANK YOU, that is all for today. Anything else you would like to add? No. Thank you very much for taking the time to read and rate.
