Trip to Japan for $300, WHAT.

Feb 18, 2010 10:24

I posted this on my Facebook, but...

Why, oh why don't I have $300?! I could be on a jet plane back to Japan, livin' it up with friends and getting a taste of the life before I commit myself to being a normal American once again. Damn you taxes, for had it not being for you, I would have had these funds and then some ( Read more... )

I know, right? Ah, the lives of poor students/recent grads. Even if I sold every since valuable I own, there's not enough time to make $300 (plus fuel expenses) by Saturday! It's just not fair!

$300 for a trip to Japan for a week? Damn, I'd be asking my parents for a loan or to chip in or something. It's a shame, I say!

I wish I could, but I doubt they'd approve of the expense. They weren't too happy when I took a trip over there this time two years ago, and with my poor finances, I doubt they'd be happy about it now. I wish they were a bit more wishy-washy and would just let me be a 22-year-old kid instead of an adult! I've been paying my own bills for five years, can't I get a break? *pouts*

Yeah, sometimes, I really just want to be a big kid. Too bad the world doesn't work that way...

Did you click the link? It's a one-day sale at iAce. I mean, it's not just $300, you've got to add in fuel and tax, but considering that going to Tokyo is about $900 on a good day, I would say this is a great price. Oh, if we both had the money, I'd say we needed to take a trip together! You could help me with my knitting on the flight, and we could crash Tokyo with a vigor! :D

Oh gods I would so love to go with you! Ask in even 2 months and I would be so there. Well as long as I could get the time off. And you in some ways would be much more fun to go with than my other friend (although I love her to bits) because we can go to all the fun boy porn stores! We would have to meet in Seattle or something for the long haul though. For you though, I would totally do a plane change.

Well, maybe we can't get this deal, but perhaps something will turn up in May? I'm hoping to be employed by then (Please, Jesus, PLEASE let me be employed by then!), so who knows? I'd surely make a stop-over for you too!

IDK, because we could totally paint the town. Did you know that Super Comic City is May 2-3, and that Comic City Osaka is May 9th? OH GOD, THE DAMAGE I COULD DO!!!

I'm not even being fiscally responsible, I'm just barely treading water bills-wise. To think, I could have had a trip to Japan instead of this shiny new Pink Vaio! What's wrong with me!

Good gravy! That's amazing! Their office in Manhattan is right next to Book-Off! LOL I'd go for it my own self only you have to travel by 5/15. I'm going in August! Ah, well. ^_^

And I read the fine print: "Fuel surcharge is applied (round-trip around $200)." But still!

I know, you're so lucky to be able to go every year for Comiket and stuff. I wish I could, or at least lead a tour group and have them pay my way. I'd do it in a heartbeat, I would.

Yes, $500 is still a damn good price for a trip to Japan. I weep at my poverty.

Believe me, I know that I am very fortunate indeed to be able to afford to go. Wasn't always the case and I had to work my @$$ off to get here, but yes, I do count my blessings!

And I admire your willpower. If it was me, I'd be all "Hello Mr. MasterCard! Let's go!!"
