The Silence Speaks For Itself.

As soon as Clark was gone, she prepared herself for the inevitable, the argument she knew could very well end her engagement, not to mention her relationship.

"Jimmy... that was not what it looked like. He was hugging me, trying to comfort me, because my fiance walked out on me last night. That's all, Jimmy."

Jimmy glared at her, shaking his head. "Bull." He scoffed. "It was so much more than that. You talk about the guy like he's God's gift, every time I turn around, you're together and... and... grabby, I know you dream about him, because I've heard you saying his name in your sleep..." He sighed, looking down. "Chloe, some people may think I'm stupid, but I'm not THAT stupid. You... you're in love with the guy."

Chloe forced a laugh, and shook her head. "Jimmy... don't... don't be ridiculous. L-Love him? No... he's... he's... my best friend. You're... my guy."

"Chloe... stop lying to me, and yourself. Just... be honest, for once." His brows furrowed, and seriousness took over his features. "I asked you, a year and a half ago, day after Valentine's Day, to be honest with me. I'm gonna ask you the same question again, and if you respond the same way..." He shook his head again, and she watched silently as he sucked in a breath. "Can you honestly tell me that if you had the choice, you wouldn't rather be with him? Because... Chloe, I think you would rather be with him."

Silence filled the cold, still room, one that he couldn't ignore, and she couldn't face.

She looked away from him, her eyes filling with tears again, and she wanted to hate herself for her inability to speak. She should be giving him a reason to say, but none would find its way to her lips.

Her silence spoke volumes, and it was enough for him.

He took a step back, eying her, and swallowed hard. "Call me when you decide what the hell you want."

And then he was gone, leaving her broken and alone, with only her tears to keep her company.
