You know how I feel about the 'alien' half and the balance that needs to be there, but I have to back up 100%. I hate the lack of respect they have for the history now. This is just...yeah.

Mm-hm, that's why I added that I know some people may not mind. But for me if he's too alien he's not Superman, his adoption and farm-boy upbringing is what makes him so unique and relatable and what makes him care for this planet so much. Without that, if he rejects it to much like they seem to be saying, he's never going to be able to plausibly turn into Earth's greatest hero and I know DC is going to try to do it anyway.

This is not my Superman. This is DC kicking its fans in the teeth.

And after seeing the previews, this is not our Lois Lane, either. Question is, when are they going to realize this? *facepalm*

Yeah, I'm with KLK on the name Kal-el, but the rest of it...WTF.

*prepares to storm DC with the mob and demand our hero back*

Think we could get a good campaign going? I know it's too late in regards to make them stop it altogether but maybe we can help influence them back towards the truth of Clois?

Honestly, I doubt it would have any effect. But if you have a petition or know of one, I'll sign it anyway.

Clois originally started as just two workmates- hopefully they'll eventually get together in this new continuity but it's not the same. Why fix what wasn't broken, DC?

I agree with you 100%. I don't think I have much else to say other than I believe it may be time to start looking through the back-bins to add to the clois_scans as we're going to need this to keep the meme of Clois alive and well it seems. Anyone want to help? lol

On a similar yet fully different topic, have you read Superman #713 (or the Flashpoint ones) yet?

For all the griping that the Superman fans have done in regards to this ep of Grounded, I believe it needs to be framed and put up there as who/what Clark Kent actually IS. Superman's been out of the everyday human loop for over a few years now between the NK/War of the Supermen/Grounded arcs and completely stopped listening to Lois (probably believing her to be too biased towards him and Superman.) I loved how the everyman gave Clark the talking to he needs. I just wish this wasn't one of those love-letters to the fans and a requiem for what we think of as Clark Kent.

Even before I heard about this I was thinking of re-doing clois_scans layout and getting the comm more active. Now I know I have too, also clois_fest is coming in August and I hope that'll help the Cloisers a bit with this news. We'll hardly be the first non-canon couple 'shippers (and besides, it's still 100% canon in SV and L&C 'verses)

I haven't read the current Flashpoints yet, because I completely fail. I've been so busy with Uni and the Clois Fest that I apparently didn't even have the courtesy to reply to your PM with an apology and assurance I wasn't ignoring you... I don't even have a good excuse beyond 'I've been busy' so sorry, I've kinda failed a bit at being a good friend there...

Haven't read #713 yet but that's because my comic book store hasn't sent it out yet. Still from all I've been hearing about it I might just have to download it early :P

So it's really true and it's so much worst than what could have imagined and we have imagined the worst. Well, it appears have imaginations did not go this far.

No way would I imagine they would destroy the character altogether. I don't get it all. it makes no sense.

The true lovers of this character won't be able to relate to him, not without his 'human side,' his family, and ost of all ... the love of his life.

IT'S JUST WRONG, DC.. WRONG...

It is so much worse than I thought it would be... I just didn't consider they would be so disrespectful to their fans.

I know, this is not Superman. Not even the fanboys who were okay with a Clois split think this is Superman. We're all on the same page now...

Yes, this! That's why I've never been a fan of calling him 'Kal-El' either, it's the fact that he was raised as, and is Clark Kent that always made him so unique. He's an alien but he's relatable and it's why he cares so much about protecting Earth too. Without that caring and respect I can't see him becoming Earth's greatest hero…

and most of all ... the love of his life.

This too- but still, Lois and Clark started unmarried, they might just be meeting and falling in love all over again. Though knowing DC, I doubt it.

Knowing DC, they'll wuss out in a few months and go back to what the fans want. I really think that a lot of the "radical changes" they're talking about are just to stir up controversy and get the fans all freaked out. They think it'll boost interest and sales, but they're wrong ( ... )

You're definitely not the only person thinking that. I know it sounds kinda the opposite of what I'm complaining about but I'm kinda torn as to whether I want them to. On one hand, I think this whole this is stupid and basically spitting on the loyal fans, on the other, I respect people who stick to their guns... I'd rather they never did this whole stupid thing in the first place but they are and I can only hope they do realise it's a huge mistake and go back...

Agreed. I don't mind it when he accepts his Kryptonian heritage as part of whole is- in fact I think he should- but he was raised here on Earth and that's who he is deep down.

Hmm, I know I've argued the Kal-El point a bit :P but it's not enough alone to put me off a fic, I'm not that uptight (well, not always... :P). Though I feel like it's like hitting a speed-bump on the page when I see people -Lois in particular- call him that ( ... )
