He may put crap in terms as sensational as humanly possible, but how else are you going to get suburban housewives and peoples' grandmothers to read about the Templars, Renaissance art criticism and medieval heresies? He may be a goober but it is refreshing to see so many people reading shit like Holy Blood, Holy Grail and the Nag Hammadi gospels (like Thomas) that would usually stick to the erudite scholarship of Danielle Steele or Nora Roberts.

You want history, read something from Oxford press or Cambridge. You want something that presents secret societies and fringe biblical scholarship in terms that even mom could understand, and then actually interest them enough to read more books on similar topics, read Dan Brown. :) They are both useful.
