As a Brit, it absolutely has to be jelly. I have never, ever, ever met a single British person who refers to it as Jell-O. So, yes, you have succeeded in making it sound less American, hurrah!

(oh, and random britpick, but as jelly is not a brand name (unlke Jell-O), it's not capitalised. and it's spelt "blimey", not "blimy".)
