So I'm catching up on my friends list for the first time in... a very long time, and I'm only skipping back to about skip=100 because I am lazy like that. So... Um... Yeah. Not like anyone ever takes me up on this offer, but if there's anything that you want to direct my attention to from pre-Friday, May 5, let me know in the comments ( Read more... )

Dude, seriously, with Doctor Who, you will never ever EVER have to worry about the 'ship becoming canon. RTD has specifically said Doctor/Rose will never happen, which is lovely and makes me happy (for I am old!skool, and thus, Doctor/Companion squicks me out more than anything in the world ever). If you want a wee primer on the 'ship in DW, nostalgia_lj wrote an interesting one here

Ooo, that is very good to know. Cause, like, I was reading spoilers from some of you all who had already seen season one, and I was getting kinda Rose/Dr. vibes that I really didn't like. So YAY no cannon shippiness!

Granted, the whole Harm/Mac thing on JAG just got annoying after about third season, and though I didn't watch it, X-Files was probably just as frustrating,

Mulder/Scully never got frustrating at least not for me. With Mulder/Scully there was never any third or fourth party messing it up. And as bad as CC got he never messed up Mulder/Scully. Mac/Harm were just so messed up by the end. And he kept throughing other people in their way. Which only made it worse.

Excellent post, if ya don't mind my saying so. :?P

As sappy a romantic as I am...I agree absolutely here. Both for your basic reason--I too think friendship is a much better basis for a relationship--and because I don't think a traditional romance quite works in Doctor Who. You've got a 900-1000 year old alien running around with a 19-20 year old human. Their relationship HAS to be something different.
