My Dad built on an addition to the house I grew up in one summer. He did it all himself (with some help from me) except for poring concrete. We had ceiling-to-floor windows all along the south side...nice for catching the sun on winter days. :) It was really cool. The house was a National Home (in other words a crackerbox), and the addition was more than half the size of the house.
Sounds like your sun room will be really cool when it's all finished. :)
